This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I bought a 1995 Nissan Quest van with 30,000 miles on it about 4 years ago(1999-2000). My complaint is that every winter on very cold days, when we turn the heat on in the mornings you can smell a very bad raw gas smell. After the engine warms up it will usually go away but not always and sometimes when you come to a stop it will start again. I am talking about a very strong gas smell, not just a little bit. It is enough that sometimes we have to get out of the vehicle it's so bad. Sometimes we roll the windows down, which is not very comfortable seeing that it usually happens on the coldest days. I have taken it to a local Nissan dealership 2 or 3 times and they have fixed all the recalls and bulletins put out by Nissan on problems related to this. These never worked. I also took it to another auto repair shop 3 times to have it fixed. Nothing has worked to this point. This is a little unsettling that the manufacturer of the vehicle cannot even find the problem and I can't keep pouring money into this vehicle and not seeing any results. Nor do I feel comfortable about my family riding around in this vehicle.
Will start, run 5 minutes then die. The wiring to the radiator fan fuse box is burnt. Took it to Nissan dealer who replaced the burnt wires, cost $75. They said the engine wiring needed replaced. I called a dealer near home and they said it would cost $3000 to fix this. This is half of what the car is worth. We have replaced the fuel filter, fuel pump, and ignition coil.
This problem (especially the steering) has been reported. The vehicle has caused problems engine and other, rear axle, gas smell inside vehicle, air bag defect.
