The contact owns a 1995 Nissan Quest. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in driveway it came out of gear and rolled into the neighbor's garage. The contact stated the vehicle was in park without the key in the ignition. The gear selector was still in park, but the transmission could have slipped to cause the vehicle to roll. The vehicle has not been inspected by the service dealer to determine the cause of the failure. But the consumer called the dealership. The manufacturer said that there was no recall on this problem and they would check into the matter.
Consumer's 4 1/2 year old son was able to shift vehicle out of gear, condition which caused vehicle to roll backward and hit the garage door. Manufacturer was notified.
Difficulty shifting into park. Sometimes goes into reverse. When shifting into reverse from park, it goes into neutral instead. Good thing nothing was behind the van.
