Vehicle was coming out of parking lot barely doing 1mph. Vehicle went over a 3 inch high curb, and as soon as the tires touched the ground, air bags deployed. Passenger's air bag broke windshield, and driver hit his arm, cutting it. Dealer, where it was purchased from, stated it was serviced for air bag. Consumer contacted salesman at the dealership where purchased, but has not gotten a call back. Consumer spoke with the service department, and was told vehicle was never serviced for the air bag. Mechanic in the service department stated that radiator support must have been hit in order for the air bag to go off.
Airbag light began flashing - dealer wants over $800 to repair. I feel this should be covered by the manufacturer as part of the safety equipment. Car was not involved in an accident or compromised in any way. In addition, I was told that the part was back ordered and probably would not be in for at least 30-45 days. What if it deploys on its own and I crash into someone else? this is a very scary situation to me and I would like some feedback or help in this matter. Thank you.
