On May 1st 2008, I decided it was time to replace my rear struts/mounts on my Camry, only because that the car was beginning to touch the road if I didn't replace them sooner or later. Well for a price of $800, I went ahead and let Firestone fix the car. Bye stimulus money. Well after that I got the car back that day I noticed the ride was better and the car felt firm in the rear, but I did encounter another problem, I still have that annoying noise that sounds like rubber and metal hitting each other. I called Firestone back and told them the problem, only for the mechanic to tell me that it could be the bushings in the strut. ???? Question marks were coming to my head, if I were to replace the whole strut assembly, wouldn't you think they would replace that too? I didn't understand it at all, but they did decide to check it out for free, but that following morning the car didn't make that sound, of course. I then decided to leave it alone and just wait it out until I knew for sure this time that this is the problem and not just going back and having something else to make a noise.
