CarComplaints.com Notes: Owners are reporting that their engines are running out of oil awfully quick. As in, 1 quart every 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains that’s with the “normal” operating range of the 2AZ-FE while owners maintain that’s complete BS.

The issue may be the result of defective piston rings.

Acceleration delay for 1 or 2 second when you need to pass or merge into a highway. AC is not ON.

Camry LE 2.4L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

Actually it is a continuous occurrence. When a step on the accelerator, the engine (or transmission) seems to stall before it kicks in. I bought a 2011 Camry and it runs a lot better. When I accelerate, it takes off.

Camry XLE 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 600 miles

My 2008 Toyota XLE V6 has a passing acceleration problem. When I'm on the freeway and need passing power, I step on the accelerator and the car moans (lags) for about a second or two before it starts to accelerate. This does not help when immediate acceleration is needed. I took it to the Toyota dealership and they said the transmission shifted normal. I know that Consumer Reports magazine removed the Camry V6 from their "recommended" rating.
