CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Camry used to be adorned with our “Seal of Pretty Good” but that was before an alarming number of complaints started rolling in for excessive oil consumption.

Owners are being caught off-guard with how quickly their cars are running out of oil. No leaks, no spills, just 1 quart of vanishing oil in as little as 1,200 miles. Toyota maintains this is “normal” for the 2AZ-FE engine, even though they issued a TSB for the problem in August of 2011.

The dashboard is melting. The Toyota dealer said they could replace it for $1500. I just recently learned that Toyota has been replacing them for free, but that has ended. Were Toyota owners informed of this. I do not remember getting any kind of notification about replacing melting dashboards.

The "dash panels" of my car is melting and it is all sticky, due to the high temperatures, which is a danger because it can cause a fire in the electrical parts that are under it. I need your immediate intervention, so that the Toyota takes charge of changing this piece for free as it is a manufacturing defect

Toyota Camry sticky dashboard melting dashboards turn into shiny glare dashbord. My entire dashboard has been sticky / tacky for years. I do not know why or how it got this way. It accumulates dust and grime, and I have no way to properly clean it since all towels and cleaning cloths, unless extremely wet, get caught on it, and then it accumulates fibers from the cleaning cloths.

Trunk leaks during heavy rainstorms. There's mildew in the trunk space, which is infiltrating the cabin and I'm breathing it in. I'm certain this happens when the vehicle is stationary, but uncertain as to whether it happens while the vehicle is in motion. Belongings that were left in the trunk have been soaked through. This occurred while the car was parked in front of my house on a public street. This has been an ongoing problem for a few years, so the date listed below as to when it happened is not a pinpointed date.

I recently bought a used 2009 Camry, with a melting dashboard. The car salesperson told me it's just cleaner, so of course I believed them. Although, when I got home I read all about Toyota's problem with melting dashboards. I am very upset with this company's interior manufacturing. There is an intense reflection on the windshield due to the sticky dashboard. This makes it hard to see while driving.

I have a 2009 Toyota Camry and realized that my dashboard is beginning to melt. There is a very sticky residue on the dashboard and it will not come off. I also have tried calling Toyota but haven't gotten any where with the replacement of my dashboard. I would just like to have my dashboard replaced. It also creates a terrible glare in the day time and it obstructs your vision. At this point its a safety concern. When will they replace these dashboards"?"

My car was parked at work in March, 2017. The vehicle next to me was a BMW SUV. About one hour and fifteen minutes later the BMW burst into flames causing fire damage to my vehicle. The insurance company for the BMW has closed the claim saying the fire was not intentional therefore they are not paying anything for my claim. My insurance company is paying for repairs to my car, however, I have to pay the deductible and cost of a rental car. After this happened I saw several news reports of BMW's bursting into flames after being turned off for a while. They said I was 0% at fault (obviously), but it does not seem fair that I have to pay anything for this incident. All I did was park my car; my car did not have any problems with it. I hope you will continue to investigate this problem. I feel several incidents are far too many for BMW to ignore. They certainly have more money than I do. I have photos, video, etc.
