•I have had this happen about 10-15 times starting shortly after my 35,000 mile checkup -- the latest being today. I called Toyota to see if the same software was used in the Camry as that for those under the following recall: "Toyota will update the skid control ECU software on certain 2012 Toyota RAV4, 2012-2013 Toyota Tacoma, and 2012-2013 Lexus RX 350 models in order to address an electronic circuit condition that can cause the Vehicle Stability Control, Anti-lock Brake, and Traction Control functions to intermittently turn off. If these systems are off, standard braking operation remains fully functional." They wouldn't tell me if the same software was being used on my Camry. This sounds like my problem; my baking operation remained fully functional. My dealer checked the brake system for leaks. We also looked at the computer diagnostic. It shows only one instance of a brake booster failure, so the dealer said he couldn't be sure it was the problem. This is a $1500 fix that might be able to be fixed with a software upgrade. I'd sure rather have a software fix than a fix that costs me $1500 that doesn't fix the problem. I talked to two people at Toyota HQs -- they told me what I already knew -- that my vehicle wasn't included in the recall. They didn't or couldn't tell me if the same software was involved.
