This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
Intermittently, when leaving from a stop the car will have just enough power to pull forward about a car length before losing all drive power. The engine revs, but behaves as if it were in neutral. This happened a couple times when making a left turn from a stop sign leaving the car in cross traffic, powerless, with cars coming from the drivers side for a second or two before it had power again. It seems to happen in hot weather. It is intermittent. The dealership could not reproduce the problem. There were no warning lamps. I could make the vehicle available for inspection upon request. The first appearance was last summer. It did not do it over the winter. It happened again yesterday. When it happens it tends to happen for a few minutes before driving normally again. It may happen at start up or after the car has been driven for some time.
While operating my vehicle, the multi information display between the tachometer and RPM gauges flashed bold red letters BRAKE (even though nothing was in front of us at all) then the screen went 100% black. When that happens, the majority of the safety features are obsolete because you cannot see or read what caused the beep. Also, the Odometer could not be seen as well as feul eveonomy, if cruise control was engaged, what gear your engine is in if Sports mode is activated (in which occurs if accidently hitting the gear switches on your steering wheel just turning it), unable to see maintenance messages, cannot control the sensor settings...nothing. When I finally had enough money to even get the car diagnosed (roughly $187), the Corwin Toyota dealership asked me for the mileage, and I had to tell them to tell me. They did confirm the instrument panel/cluster to be defective, however, I and my extended warranty company had to pay the bill. 53,252 miles when they serviced it. When I paid my portion, I asked Lori how long will this one last and she told me, "They are suppose to last the duration of the car's life." I replied, "Um, but...". On April 17th I called Toyota's Customer Engagement line and spoke with them about the defective part and repair. Dorian told me that with the part replaced carries a 1 year warranty. If Toyota designed essentially all the safety features, eco features, cruise control, gears to only be seen or controlled on that multi-informational display within the instrument panel/cluster, they should be required to fix it at no cost to customers for the lifetime of the car. I took video of it before I dropped it off to be serviced., but even Corwin Toyota in Fargo, ND, has video footage of the mechanic's assessment.
Only when it rains the forward collision warning light comes on. The last time it came on the engine light also came on with code P01280. Diagnostic at Toyota said the Thermostat needs to be replaced. I decided to look into this as the thermostat should not be bad at 54500 miles. Weeks later and the neither light has come on again.
The car first stalled, then the it shut off, and the car did not start. The car has almost half tank of gas. So I was doing My research on line. And saw 3 recalls and one of them was the fuel pump system for my 2018 camry LE.
Panoramic sunroof issues. Sunroof is stuck in the open position. Motor clicks continuously but does not close. Toyota dealership only able to close top portion of sunroof and had to disconnect the motor. Sunroof not used often so this should not have happened, and vehicle is not that old. The cost to repair is outrageous.

The contact owns a 2018 Toyota Camry. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, the vehicle failed to start-up. Additionally, the low braking power warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact was informed that the repair was not covered under an unknown recall. The failure mileage was 34,000.
Upon leaving my home the -??check engine-?? light turned on suddenly after only less than 2 minutes of driving. The -??ICS malfunction-?? light also turned on. The car pulled and stalled when pushing the gas and velocity stalled. Engine light turned said something similar to -??engine overheating park in a safe place-??. Not sure exact words. I was able drive less then one mile to get the car to Toyota Penske of Downey. I had the diagnostic done and the service provider stated the car needed an electrician water pump replacement. My car has very little mileage and was not running for long for it to over heat.
Doors come equipped with touch active door lock. Where you press on the door and it locks and if you put hand on the handle it will unlock. First the passenger door stopped working. It doesn-??t lock the car. Now the driver seat stopped working. You have to lock doors manually and some times it won-??t unlock the door for you after car is locked.
Subject: Concerns Regarding TSB T-SB-0017-23 for Toyota Camry HV Vehicles Dear NHTSA, I am deeply concerned about the recently released Technical Service Bulletin (TSB) T-SB-0017-23 by Toyota Motor Sales, USA, Inc. This TSB addresses a potential issue with the active grille air shutter actuator in specific 2018-2020 Camry HV vehicles equipped with the A25A-FXS engine. Releasing the TSB in April 2023, after the warranty periods for many affected vehicles have expired, is unfair to owners. A 2018 Camry HV's warranty period of 36 months/36,000 miles ended in 2021. This situation raises significant concerns as it burdens owners with the financial responsibility of repairs for an issue that was not their fault, potentially compromising safety if repairs are not promptly carried out. Toyota's inadequate efforts to ensure all affected owners have access to necessary repairs are disheartening. I urgently appeal for a thorough investigation and decisive action to ensure that regardless of warranty status, all owners of affected Camry HV vehicles can obtain essential repairs. I would like to bring attention to a similar TSB, T-SB-0319-17, issued by Toyota in November 2017 for Prius Prime 2017 and 2016-2017 models. This TSB addressed a comparable issue with the active grille air shutter actuator. Toyota extended the warranty for affected vehicles in California by 180 months or 150,000 miles, aligning with the manufacturing year and ensuring all vehicles were covered. The repair was covered under the California Emission Warranty for specific states. The discrepancy in approach between the two TSBs raises concerns about the fairness and consistency of Toyota's actions. It is crucial for Toyota to extend similar warranty coverage for affected Camry HV vehicles, ensuring all owners have access to necessary repairs without financial hardship. Thank you for your attention to this matter, and I urge prompt action in addressing these concerns.
I bought the car 6/23/21 and since then The electrical power steering system light indicates a malfunction, I had it serviced three times and so far the warning sign still goes on, I called Toyota and they can't help me, I do not want to wait for an accident to happen before it is taken care of.
Electric power steering system warning light keeps coming on which indicates a malfunction in the EPS, comes on and off at different times, since I bought the car in June 23, 2021
During replacement of Brake Light Switch, observed that original switch nut was installed up-side-down. Replaced switch, because vehicle intermittently would not go into gear. It is highly likely that brake lights were also not working intermittently. Vehicle only had 20K miles and I assume it came from Factory with the switch nut installed up-side-down. This condition allows the brake switch to be misaligned.
My door locks won't lock any of them by remote or on the door.. Last night I loved them all & my remote acted like it did the beep beep.. All of a sudden after 3 mins my alarm was going off.. Then I went out & unlocked my door & then locked it back by hand of course then 3 mins later alarm going off again.. So I just unlocked the door..
