The consumer stated that the windshield wipers worked intermittently, which resulted in poor visibility in inclement weather. The symptoms were the same as the recall on the 96-97 Blazer.

Windshield wipier do not come on sometimes and at others will not turn off, also will go from itermittent to full speed without being selected. Front seat recliner handles both have broken off, left side twice.
While traveling windshield wipers would stop working, causing consumer to pull over to hand restart wiper. Without any indication S windshield wipers failed.
The General Motors windshield wipers in my 1998 Blazer has the same problem as earlier models of GM trucks. They have had this problem from 1991 why can't they be made to fix it! I was lucky to get home alive in the rain storm yesterday. They just quit and I could see vary little.
Refer to nhsta campaign #98V150001 dated 7/1/1998. I am having problems with my windshield wipers not working properly. Intermittent switch does not work like it should, wipers continuously run when using mist function to clean windshield, sometimes wipers do not come on at all. Recall issued 5/1/2003 to include 1996-1997 Blazer. Mine is 1998 and is not included in recall per dealer even though I am having the same problem.
The consumers vehicle had the same as the NHTSA recall related to the windshield wiper. The dealer refused repair because the vehicle VIN was not included in the recall.
We are aware that windshield wiper motors on 1997 chev. Blazer have been recalled for repairs. We own a 1998 Blazer that we purchased in November of 1997, so it was manufactured in 1997. The windshield wipers on our Blazer do not work most of the time. We are wondering if a recall is planned for the 1998 Blazer also.
Had to replace altenator. Handle of passenger seat fell off in hand, causing riding and sitting difficult. Puts me right up to the air bag. Purchased this vehicle to take my husband to nashville, for his heart transplant visits, needed a reliable vehicle. On the last trip there, 70 mph, in hard rain, no windshield wipers, just quit on the expressway, in heavy traffic. Gas pedal also sticks, and pushes with force, when it releases. (wonder we haven't hit someone). Being on social security, we thought paying extra, for and extended warranty would protect us. (a wasted $1800) the payment takes almost half our income, we can't afford to fix the manufacturers mistakes. By looking at the other complaints, we're not the first with the above problems. Very unhappy consumer. Our first payment on the Blazer was 1-14-02, we began having these problems 6 months later.
The vehicle experienced the same defect with the windshield wipers as stated in recall 98 V 150 001, however the vehicle identification number was not included.
Whenever windshield wipers are used they work whenever they want too. Sometimes they run continually. Sometimes they stop all together. I used to have a GMC sonoma that did the exact same thing and received a recall. This problem was fixed on the sonoma. This happens any time the wipers are used in the Blazer. I would like this fixed immediately at no cost to myself.
