The windshield wipers worked/failed intermittently. There was no discernible pattern, but it was a dangerous situation. My wife traveled 120 miles round trip to work and had to stop midway yesterday because of rain. The windshield wipers randomly decided not to work. A half-hour of waiting and they worked fine.

For the past year of owning this vehicle I've experienced a sporadic front wiper motor. Just recently it went out causing me to swerve and hit a low branch. The branch caused the windscreen to crack but not shatter, and the driverside wiper to cease functioning.

Windshield wipers work sporadically and never in heavy rain. Sometimes they work in light rain but then quit all together. Refuse to put any more money into this money pit and get them fixed. Assuming it's an electrical problem like everything else on this Blazer model. Am looking for a new car and only drive Blazer when conditions are dry.

Intermittent wiper circuit board on my 1998 Chevy Blazer went bad around 90,000 miles. Caused intermittent wiper failure. I have been told this is a known defect by GM and that earlier models with same problem were recalled.

1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The windshield wipers work intermittently. They will stop at any given time, during wet weather. The stopped wiper blocks view through the windshield. No damage has occurred to the wiper motor/circuit board or wiring. This is a product failure that GM has not recalled for this make/model/year. They have recalled 1996, 1997, 2002, and 2003 SUVS with the same complaint. After many conversations with GM representatives, they refuse to repair the defective equipment. I must pay for repairs out of my own pocket. Why won't they recall the 1998 line when there are so many complaints about them? a quick on-line internet search yields hundreds of unhappy 1998 Blazer owners that are experiencing the very same wiper issues that caused the other recalls.

On several occasions my windshield wipers did not work according to the setting on the windshield wiper control. Many times the wipers would go on and not shut off and many time the wipers would not go on at all. Over the span of 18,000 miles the effect have been dangerous to my personal safety. On sunny days when applying the windshield washer, the wipers would not operate. This causes me to pull over and pull on the windshield wipers until they start and then they do not turn off. On rainy days, they turn off without warning causing me to pull over on the highway and risk being hit due to a driver side vehicle exit on busy highways to manually clean the window or wait until the rain stops. I have had the control replaced at a cost of over $300 but the problem still persists. I have been told the motor needs to be replaced due to faulty connections from the pulse controller board and the wiper motor. This is a major safety flaw in the vehicle and must be corrected by GM. I hope you can help all the owners of vehicles using ac delco part number 15036008 wiper motors. Many complaint have been documented and it is time that the NHTSA protected the drivers of the vehicles effected regardless of the pain caused to GM. If it saves only one life it is worth it. How many people have died and have not been able to document the problem due to their deaths" how many complaints does it take before you take action against an obvious safety flaw in a vehicle" this must be addressed.

We own (my wife) a 1998 Chevy Blazer. The windshield wipers began to quit for no reason intermittently about 6 months ago. We were recently traveling West on I-70 just past the eisenhower tunnel in Colorado in a raging downpour, and they quit again nearly causing an accident. I've read on the web that there was a recall on the wiper motor pulse module for many years' Blazer models, but not the '98 or '99, which are having the same problem according to the numerous complaints I've read on the web. I believe the 1998 model Blazer pulse module should be recalled also. Can't you compel GM to recall this also? I've read numerous stories on the web of people getting into accidents because of this problem. GM should fix it for free.

Consumer complained about a windshield wiper problem. Consumer owned a 1998, Chevrolet Blazer and windshield wipers worked sporadically, some times they wont work for days. Had this problem for a few years. Tried to get dealer to fix problem when it was under warranty. But, dealer could not duplicate the problem. Consumer stated that there was a recall for year and models before and after his vehicle was manufactured. But for some reason his vehicle was not included.

Contact states there is a problem with the windshield wipers on 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The wipers will not come on at all or they will stop abruptly. There is a recall on the 1996 and 1997 Chevrolet Blazer, but not the 1998 Chevrolet Blazer. The manufacturer stated if there were enough complaints in the future a recall will be issued. May 2005 the wiper stopped working during a rain storm resulting in reduced visibility. The windshield wiper motor and circuit board were replaced.

For the past 3 years my windshield wipers have worked intermittenly during rainy or wet conditions. This has caused me a great deal of concern and frustration since it has at times been so difficult to see while on the road during a rain that I've had to pull over for safety sake. These are the same conditions described by the recall of the '95 Chevy Blazer that I read. Mine is a '98 Chevy Blazer. According to the dealer I've taken this in to for possible recall, this is not unusual for this year and model. Expecting for a recall on this for the past 3 years, I've still not had it repaired.

While driving to tenn. For an important event, in the rain- our windshield wipers quit and will only work on and off. They would just stop in the verticle postion blocking my husbands view and we would have to stop on the side of the road to push them down in the rain. They still work part time. This is my only vehicle and this is the rainy season. I have almoost benn involved in accidents. Being my only vehicle I have no choice but to take a chance. I checked on the VIN number with no luck on a recall. I called GM they suggested I get an analysis.

Windshield wipers work when they want on or not. Also only work on high for 10% of time. Can't go anywhere when it is raining because of not knowing when wipers will work. Have almost had 3 accidents because of suddenly no wipers in down pours. Called dealership will cost anywhere from $80 to $300 to fix depending on what is the problem. Can't get fix because just spent $1000 on oil cooler lines for the 2nd time. Also had this same problem with my 93 truck and my 86 truck but they were recalled along with my boyfriends 97 truck with the same manufacture date on windshield wiper motor. But 98 Blazer aren't recalled even though they have the same windshield circuits and motors. Doesn't make since to me. Somebody is going to get killed with this as I have seen many complaints on this with the 98 Blazer.

I have a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer (last 8 of VIN W2121658) that the windshield wipers intermittent levels do not work. The high level of the wipers will work for a short amount of time and then stop. I want to make a complaint because several other years of this same model have had a recall but this year and VIN do not have a current recall on them.
