I've had a problem with my low coolant level light coming on pretty often, but my level is NOT low...I ignored it. Then as I got ready for a road trip, I filled up my car with gas (8.40 per gallon)...OK, not really, but it felt like it...and went to run a quick errand before leaving town. Suddenly, my engine hot light came on, and it was constantly dinging with a red message light on, and the arm of my gauge was all the way over on the red area! I thought surely it was hot...as I looked for a place to pull off the road, I approached an intersection and began to pull over when the dinging stopped, the message disappeared, and the arm moved slightly above the red area...I thought perhaps I could make it home. And, I did make it home, parked in my driveway, lifted the hood so it could cool off and I could have it checked. To my surprise, it was not hot.....no steam coming out and no smell that usually comes with that problem. My neighbor came over and checked my water level in my radiator, but it was fine, and it was also fine in the resevoir, in fact, he put his hand on the engine and it was just NOT HOT! As I sat in the car and watched the arm on the temp gauge go back down to it's normal state, the fuel gauge arm began dropping to empty from full! I couldn't believe my eyes....my car was full of gas, and the gauge was dropping to empty as I watched! I also noticed on that same morning, as I walked away from my car, and tried to lock it with my pad on my keychain, it would not lock until 5 tries. That has never happened before now! All of a sudden everything is going haywire.....I'm scared to take it to the dealership...Lord only knows what they will tell me, and charge me! If anyone out there has dealt with this particular problem, please advise me on this so perhaps the dealership can't pull the wool over my eyes.....in the meantime, my car sits in my driveway. I was told not to drive it because the engine could shut down if the computer is getting signals that all that stuff is wrong...even if it's not. Help!!
