I took my vehicle to a local repair shop, they could not find the problem. I took it to Peters Chevrolet and they estimated that the problem will cost me over $400.00 to diagnose and repair.

Sometimes at low speeds my steering goes completely out. I believe it is the power steering pump that is causing this intermittent problem. I am going to get my local shop to replace my power steering pump. At times when the problem occurs, I am attempting to turn into my parking space in front of my Apartment, my steering wheel goes totally inoperative. It feels as though the power steering is completely gone. If I struggle to work my steering wheel back and forth a few times, the problem clears up and I can then proceed to park m car. I need to get this problem fixed, because if it happens on the road or in the process of turning while at reduced speed this could lead to an accident or worse.

Almost got hit by an 18 wheeler and two cars. It was raining and when I turned at the intersection; car slowed down and would not turn, I panicked because on-coming traffic was coming. Because the car stopped steering, I stopped, put car in reverse and backed out of intersection, let all of the traffic through and tried again turning to the left. All turns to the left when it is raining or when it is wet, after rain, (puddles) causes this steering problem. Cannot drive the car because it is unpredictable driving until it is fixed. This was my most scary experience. This one made me cry. It is hazardous and the company needs to do something.

THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED MY HUSBAND WAS IN HOSPITAL AND SOMEONE HELPED ME GET IT GOING. THANK GOODNESS I WAS NOT ON HWY. DON'T REMEMBER THE DATE IT DID IT AGAIN. WE HAVE TWO CARS, I AVOID DRIVING THIS CHEVY. WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE, HE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER HERE WHERE WE LIVE. THEY SAID THEY NEVER HEARD ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS AND PASSED IT OFF. WE DID NOT DRIVE IT MUCH. RECENTLY I CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND TOLD HIM THE PROBLEM-------ASKED IF THEY WOULD FIX IT. NOW THEY HAVE RECALL ON MALIBU UP TO 2007 FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. SEEMS SO UNFAIR. WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Currently under inspection at dealership. Have seen various complaints on steering related issues on internet. Hoping dealer will rectify the problem as I consider this to be a serious safety related concern
