In June of 2016, this is my elderly mothers car, there was a severe knocking and clicking coming from the air vent in the middle of the dash. We took it in and they fixed it. $700.00 later, then in Sept/Oct it happened again, the part was under warranty so they replaced it. Now it's January 2017, and it is doing again. We have to go in and have it fixed again! This is so annoying and it stresses my mother so much when something goes wrong. Why can't they get it right?

This is the second blend(Hot/Cold) motor to go out. To replace took 10 minutes and the cost of the motor. Removed the glove box and used a 5mm socket to remove the 2 screws, pop off the electrical connector then installed the new one.

Very cheap design. There is a plastic insert in the motor side that goes over the shaft of the blend door. The plastic insert is made from very soft plastic. Actually dent it with a fingernail. This becomes damaged as the door functions over time. Not sure why it gets damaged. I believe the tolerence between the size of the shaft and the insert are to large as well as the insert being of a flimsy design. Really sad that the electrical motor is perfect just a crappy piece of plastic destroying the whole product and reputation. Give me the old Vacuum tube metal on metal anytime. If you buy an Impala and I assume any Chevy you will be replacing this motor 3 times. Now, That I am done with all the motors for the passenger side and easy to get to. Can't wait to take the dash out when the driver side motor fails and it will. Was looking at a Cruz for my wife but now not so sure.

This was the first time the blend (defrost/vent/floor) motor went out. I almost wrecked trying to understand why it was clicking. Nothing like trying to get the heat working for defrost while driving 75. Very dangerous. I researched it online and found it was a blend motor not covered under warranty. To replace took 10 minutes and the cost of the motor. Removed the glove box and used a 5mm socket to remove the 2 screws, pop of the electrical connector then installed the new one.

OK.. so left and right? I really wonder if this is by design that it fails. there must be a way to find out if GM did this knowingly.

Very much a pain.

Nice car but too many small things like this make it not worth the time.

The vent clicking and popping is extremely annoying and is getting worse and worse. I don't have the money to fix this problem and Chevrolet shuld be held responsible and have this issue fixed and vehicles should be recalled and they should fix the problem and no cost to the buyers.

I have had me car for about 3 years now and in June 2013 the passenger side AC/Heat vents started clicking and popping off and on. Over time they started getting louder and worse, until finally it went out this month 12/2013 and took my heat on the passenger side with it. I had the motor that went out fixed and not even a week later, it started to click and pop again. This is getting very aggravating and costly. It cost $240 to replace it and this morning I find out that there are 4 AC/Heat motors that are in the car, 1 on the driver side and 3 on the passenger side. I was told that if one goes out then the one next to it needs replaced to because it puts stress on the one next to it. However, if it is the one that is in the middle of the dash that is going to cost over $600 to fix because they have to pull the dash completely off to get to it and fix it. Chevy needs to fix this issues as I have been told be several mechanics that this is a major problem with the Chevy impalas.
