Anti-lock motor module fails, causing motor to run constantly even when ignition is off causing danger of fire. Contacted dealer, and was told it is a common problem and parts are not available due to high failure rate. Several Chevrolet truck forums on the internet also revealed a common failure. Repair cost are $800-$900 and it appears many owners are simply pulling the 60 amp. Fuse and driving vehicles in this condition.
Anti-lock motor module continued to run with ignition off. Had to unplug. Motor got extremely hot before I could figure out what was happening and since it is located next to the gasoline fuel filter it can very dangerous. My concern now is that I have a vehicle without anti-lock brakes because at $800 -$1000 dollars how many people can rush right out and replace something that expensive. When a fire occurs from the excessive heat build up someone will get hurt. Why should GM or NHTSA wait for that to happen.
Brakes have went all the way to the floor several times on the first occasion pedal went all the to the floor causing my truck to rear end the vehicle in front of me at a spead of 15mph I had no way of stoping the truck and could not avoid the car in front of me, I have read numerous complaints on your web site as well as many others I wonder might you do something or is General Motors more powerfull then you.
ABS pump was energized when I started vehicle and continued to run even after I turned off the key. Only way I was able to stop pump was by removing ABS fuse, causing my ABS system to no longer be active. Chevrolet said this was a common problem. Also fuel gauge will intermittently register no fuel after filling up and while riding even when the tank is full.
The ABS control unit causes the pump motor to run continuously, even when the ignition is turned off. Dealer andy mohr Chevrolet in plainfield verified this is the problem, and indicated that they are repairing this problem weekly. I know of several other 1999 Silverado with same problem this obvious defect in the ABS system is a major safety issue, and a recall should be initiated immediately.

Brake pedal goes all the way down to the floor, it is hard, and there is less stopping distance. Dealership mechanic told consumer that modular pump needed to be replaced.
Upon starting vehicle ABS warning light on the instrument panel illuminated and a pump started running. When consumer shut vehicle off and removed key from ignition, pump continued to run. Dealership was currently examining vehicle for this problem, and is charging consumer $1400 for repairs. Please provide any additional information / documentation regarding repairs for this problem.
Started my truck, heard humming noise from under drivers door, ABS light came on. Shut the truck off and the humming noise continued. Had to disconnect the battery to get it to quit. When battery is reconnected the humming noise continues. Took the truck to the Chevy dealership, they unpluged the fuse. I apperently no longer have ABS. I called Chevrolet (file # 05941718) they said they would pay 30% of the $625 module. I started to check into this problem with other Silverado owners, it seems numerous owners are having the same problem. I've also had problems with the brake locking up and not releasing.
ABS pump continues to run after engine is shut off. This seems to be a common problem as I have other friends with the same vehichle that have had to pay upwards of $800 to repair this system. It is my understanding that this failure has something to do with the location of the ABS unit?? in addition, the parking brake also does not work properly. Even when it is drpessed fully to the floor, the vehichle will still move if the vehicle accidently shifts into gear. I have disabled the ABS, at this point.
ABS motor will not turn off. Fuse was pulled to keep motor from running. Location of pump is very near fuel filter. When investigating original problem, motor was very warm!.
Brakes fail to work properly when pressed. Stopping distance for vehicle was increased. Can feel vehicle slowing down, but not stopping right away. Took to dealer, and mechanic indicated that brakes were operable.
Refrence your service bulletin 22101 NHTSA item number SB618187. From research on the internet this seems to be a problem related to ABS pump/module location and mositure infiltration. On the newer models this unit has been moved to another location. Chevrolet was contacted and declined to cover the repair.
