Bought a Chevy Spark 2014 when it was brand new, and it ran great for about a year until problems with the acceleration came up. I mentioned it to the dealership several times and was instructed that it was due to other issues that the Spark also had in the five years I've had it. Recently, the acceleration problem has become so bad that I was unable to get out of a left-hand turn quickly enough and nearly got hit by another car. I took it into the service center as it was still covered under the power-train warranty, and was advised that it would need a new transmission. They kept it for two weeks, and when I brought it home the engine is running LOUD and the car is still struggling to accelerate. It takes a full ten seconds at stop lights to go, and it is now jerking when you gas it. Brought it back to the dealership and was told by a service manager that it is just how the car runs, even though it seems to be running worse now after the transmission replacement. I am trying now to go through the warranty to see if I have any other options. The car is dangerous, and I don't feel safe in it, especially where I live. Most of the people at Chevy the dealership or otherwise seem totally uninterested in helping me.

My car had a recall to reprogram the transmission computer. As soon as I picked up my car from this required service it would hesitate as I accelerated from a stop. Hard shift also occur and I would have to push the gas pedal all the way down but my car is sluggish. I returned to the dealer and they informed me the computer needs to learn my driving habits. This was not the case when I first purchased the vehicle and have had many others drive my car without this problem in the year and a half I have owned it. They asked me to drive it a week to let the computer relearn my driving habits.

After the week it was not any better. I took it back to the dealer and they had the car for 2 full days. they said the Hum device I had installed into the OBD port was confusing the computer so they uninstalled it to reprogram the computer. When I returned to pick up my car and they asked me to keep the Hum device uninstalled for a week as the computer relearns my driving habits.

Today is a week and the problems still exist. I spoke to the service manager and was informed GM stated this was a problem I would have to just live with. This never happened prior to their reprogram and I do not feel as though I should be annoyed by this problem.

I have a call into speak with a manager at GM.
