The contact owns a 1998 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The vehicle has cooper discoverer atr, size LT245/75R16 tires. While driving between 2 mph and greater, the vehicle would shake and pull to the right. The failure occurred more frequently at higher speeds. The steel belt on the front driver side tire protruded through the tread. The VIN and dot number were unknown. The tire failure mileage was 30,000. The vehicle current and failure mileages were 205,000.

Kumho road Venture ht tire had tread separation while driving and pulling a 26 foot travel trailer at 68 mph. Tire was still inflated. Aftermarket equipment installed at 38,000 miles, tire size 245/75R16, dot# H211yd1P309. Manufacturer was notified. The tire manufacturer inspected the failed tire and found no defect.

PE 00 040/tread separation: Left rear tire had a tread separation while traveling at 70 mph with driver and three passengers, one adult in a 1998 Chevrolet, Suburban; original equipment, tire size LT245/75R16. Dot numbers V611B1A447 and V611B1A487 for the Firestone steeltex R4S tires, front tires were kept at 70psi and rear tires 75psi.

When thumping occurred and vehicle was pulling to right we had tires balanced. This did not cure the problem so took it in to have tires checked more throughly. We were told the two front tires had tread separation and to get them off imediately. Thumping and pulling ceased after new tires were put on. (dot number: Tiresize: 245/75R16)
