The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The contact stated that there was a loud popping noise coming from the air conditioner compressor. The compressor was locking up and the auxiliary belt failed. The auxiliary belt was replaced, but the popping sound persists. The contact referenced technical service bulletin number 628932 (equipment:electrical:air conditioner). The current mileage was 83,000 and failure mileage was 82,500.

I have checked into this and happens quite often. GM needs to step up and issue a recall on these faulty compressor this happens just after the warranty runs out.
