I noticed my 2000 Chevrolet - Suburban K2500 vehicle pulling to the left at light to moderate braking. Noticed oil like stains to under side of drivers front wheel well area. I had it inspected by a certified service station. During inspection they found a leak coming from the brake hydro booster, and power assist high pressure hoses. I was told that the hydro booster needed replacing, along with the two lines coming from the hydro booster, at a cost of $1200. I was told that the driver could lose complete power assist to the steering and brakes, causing a potentially hazardous driving condition. G.M. is responsible for maintaining reliable safety components for all their vehicles. Under the NHTSA campaign id number: 05V005000, under the notes section: GM campaign no. 05001. This action is deemed a safety improvement campaign and is not being conducted under the Safety Act. The company has informed NHTSA that it will provide the modifications described above free of charge.

The contact owns a 2000 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. The contact stated that the steering became very difficult to operate while turning into a driveway. There was no power steering ability. The dealer stated that the power steering pump shaft failed. The contact paid $270 for parts and almost $200 for labor to repair the vehicle. The VIN was not included in the NHTSA safety improvement campaign that was issued for the failure. The manufacturer would not assume liability for the failures. The current and failure mileages were less than 56,244. Updated 08/05/09.

I have had problems since day one on this Suburban. Most recently the two above. I checked the warranty work that was done on my Suburban and it was over a page of claims. I just cannot remember the dates the items I checked occured. The fuel pump problem was long in the coming, they just didn't know what the problem was. I spent outside of warranty hundreds of dollars on the fuel system. This left us stranded 3 times! this last time cost me $765. Today, the ABS sytem died. They say it's going to cost me close to a $1000 to repair. I purchased the Suburban because it was safe to carry my wife and 7 kids. So far, we have been stuck on the road, lost vacation time and just can't feel safe anymore. Now I don't have brakes. Thanks for letting me vent. Kent dold

Vehicle not only has steering, linkage, seat belt, and brake problems as reported, but also accelerator sticks. Was repaired last in the fall of 2002, but as soon as temperature outside got to 60 Fahrenheit the petal began to stick again. When you do get pedal to depress vehicle jumps forward rapidly. Does all the time when weather is warm.

Re 2000 Chevrolet Suburban 4X4. Vehicle has steering difficulties (vehicle can completely change lanes within 2 lines on the road, loose steering at times, steering wheel jumps when turning curves) which were reported to dealer several times. Dealer blamed tires which were not recalled. The jump/pop in steering when rounding curves was said to be due to lack of lubrication upon construction of vehicle-somewhat improved. Steering column still moves (feels loose at times) and feels as though will disconnect or tire rod will break when this happens while driving. At 43,000 miles front end differential had to be repaired, just over every 20,000 miles brake disc seems to need replaced. Vehicle does not go completely into park or gear and sometimes pops out (thought to need linkage adjustment, but vehicle has cable so cannot be adjusted according to repair person). Sometimes (fairly frequently) seat belts still do not completely buckle, they will pop out at various times if they buckle at all(not only with children, but with adults). Vehicle seems very loose to drive and we frequently feel as though we don't have control of our vehicle when driving (intermittently). We feel very unsafe in the vehicle.
