Bought new from Concord (CA) Chevrolet dealer. First hot day of summer only hot air coming from AC vents. Took to original dealer and was told the AC condenser was leaking and the unit would not hold a charge. I was told that the warranty had expired at 36,000 miles. The dealer stated that the condenser would need to be replaced. In researching the internet the condenser has a history of frequent early failures for this make and model and GM is aware of this vulnerable part but cave no warning to its customers in advance. I feel that even though I was slightly past the warranty mileage GM should cover a known anticipated defect.

Suburban Premier V8

  • Automatic transmission
  • 45,000 miles

45,000 miles on my 2018 Suburban Premier. The AC stopped working. Took to Chevrolet service. Diagnosed condenser needs to be replaced. They wanted to charge over $1200 to fix it. I happened to go online and see there was a class action with Suburbans 2015-2017. Told Chevy service I thought that seems pretty strange that there was a known problem with condensers right up until my year. After a lot of calls and calling to Chevrolet main service, they said GM will pay for part of the fix. I still have to pay for a portion. Super frustrating and honestly with a car that's 4 years old... it has me thinking I won't go with Chevrolet again. I've had 3 suburbans and this is the first major problem. But this IS a major problem. If there was an issue with condensers failing in 2017, they should be looking into the next few years as well.
