CarComplaints.com Notes: Carrying the not-so-proud traditions of its 2002 predecessor, the 2003 has a handful of instrument panel malfunctions that can leave you guessing your speed, engine temperature or how much gas is left in the tank.

My husband replaced the low beam headlight on the right front of my Trailblazer three different times within a few months. We then took it to a body shop and they replaced the connector. Once again I'm having trouble with the right low beam. When I start the vehicle, it lights up, but once I turn on the brights and return to low beam, it refuses to come on.

The contact owns a 2003 Chevrolet Trailblazer. She smelled fuel fumes coming through the air vents of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, and the fuel tank was replaced. The repair did not remedy the failure. Secondly the head-lights fail while driving. Lastly, the lighting of the instrument control panel was inoperative. She contacted the GM manufacturer, and was referred back to the dealer. The vehicle has been taken to several dealers, but the failures have not been remedied. The failure mileage was 7,300. The vehicle identification number was unavailable.

Headlight plug melted and burned. Passenger side headlight goes out repeatedly prior to noticing burn damage. Three bulbs replaced since August 2005 prior to burn damage noted. There are several complaints of this that I can gather from a web forum that I visit concerning the Trailblazer.

Front headlight burned out in November 2005 replaced light bulb. Burnt out again went to dinsdale Chevy to get replaced said that the wire was melted and burned and would have to be replaced. I asked how that could happen and they said it was probably a manufacturing defect. I asked if that means they would replace it and they said no it would cost $132 to repair. I couldn't afford that so I bought the part and had to wire it myself.

Since I bought this vehicle August 30, 2002 I have had to bring it back to the dealership on numerous occasions for several different items. I have had both the left and right brake lights gone out, the driver side head lamp went out, the air conditioner has gone out twice(four months apart), the driver side passenger window is inoperable(we have tried to get it fixed for almost a month now with no success) and the engine cooling fan was warped and the fan clutch malfunctioned. At this point we don't understand why they haven't just recalled the whole vehicle. Luckily we have the 36,000 mile warranty still in affect but what's going to happen when it is up and the same problems keep recurring?
