: the contact stated while traveling 30 mph, the sidewall split causing the left rear tire to blowout. No lights illuminated on the dash. There were no problems with the steering prior to the incident. There was only 2,000 miles on the tire. The tire dealership was informed. Updated 09/19/06.
While traveling approximately 62 mph in a 1995, Dodge, truck Ram, and pulling a 27' trailer and boat, right/front Firestone, steeltex R4S tire, size: P215/85R16, dot: Unknown experienced a blowout in sidewall. Blowout resulted in a crash which hospitalized consumers wife for 4 weeks, where back surgery was performed to repair spinal damage. No determination has been made as to the cause of blowout. Tire was available for inspection. There were approximately 20,000 miles on tire when this occurred, and the tire was not original equipment for vehicle.
