Multiple cracks in dash with sharp edges and sharp points sticking out toward people. This is a true safety issue, not just a cosmetic problem. There is no excuse for making plastic that is this brittle and weak. Shame on Chrysler!! They need to recall the dash and replace with new, durable plastic dashes.

We have afleet of trucks out of which a number of them are dodge trucks from 1998 to 2001. The dashboards is by far the most unsightly part of these trucks. We have resorted to superglue, dash pads and replacement dashboards to deal with these problems as well as dashmats. The dealerships have done nothing to fix these problems. The scorn it off by raising their prices on these from around $250 to the latest quote I received today for $500. There is no solution to this problem. As these vehicles do have active air bags in the dashes it is my opinion that this should be handled as an extreme driver and passenger hazard by the manufacturer and be handled as a recall item. if a piece of this were to launch by a deploying air bag or a person were to be thrown into these dashes they could be seriously injured or killed. Whats up with that and why hasn't anyone stepped forward on a class action suit. If we own 5 of these trucks and all have the same problem and as well as that we go to a wrecking yard and all similar year model trucks have the same problem, then there must be thousands of thousands of trucks with the same problem, if not all. Time for Dodge to Step up!!!

I dont feel there is any reason that a vehicle built since 1985, let alone one built in 2001,should have a a dashboard falling apart. My first 2 vehicles when I began driving in 1994, one was a 1980 pontiac grand prix and the other a 1984 ford F250, neither one of those vehicles had dashboards cracked nearly as bad as this truck.I just cant believe that a car company would knowingly use such a faulty product.I know that a cracked dashboard isnt really a "safety issue".But really,if dodge wants to keep loyal customers they should offer some assistance or financial reimbursement for those of us with faulty dashboards.

My truck is called "Holy" because the dashboard is one big hole. I complained to the dealer, but there is no inexpensive fix. The service manager even told me it was a common problem. The replacement part is over $1400. My sister has a Dodge truck too, and she has the exact same problem. I was thinking that maybe I could buy one from the junk yard and replace it with that, however ever junk yard I called said their dashboards for my truck are all either cracked or broken.

DODGE = JUNK; They do not stand behind their product, even when they know they used inferior materials which has caused big problems for a huge number of Dodge owners. My dash started to crack at about two years old. By about 4 years, the plastic began coming apart and falling down inside the instrument panel. At this time, the dash is about 60% gone, and the remainder is badly cracked. I called the local dealer and they refused to give me any assistance, other than to replace their crappy dash with another crappy dash at the tune of about $2,000.00. DODGE SUCKS !!

The dash on my Dodge truck is cracked in at least 6 different places. Unfortunately, these are not surface cracks. The dash is cracked all the way through. I am afraid the whole dash will collapse, or that pieces may be launched creating a hazard.

I have, as a previously satisfied customer of Dodge, sold many of these trucks by influence and word of mouth, however, I now regret having done so. I have contacted my local dealer, several dealers within the state I live in, Dodge regional Customer Service, and Dodge national Customer Service. All refused to accept responsibility and all refused to repair or replace the dash. The regional CS rep actually said, "I'm sick of hearing about this like it's our problem!." I'm not prone to exaggeration and/or embellishment so you know this is a true statement. This is outrageous considering the number of truck owners who have reported the problem and the tremendous amount of negative publicity.

Dodge employee K.C. who would not give her name only the intials, and an employee number of KG364 (maybe not her true number as she was rude beyond belief in my opinion). She basically gave the standard run-a-round and said it was to be expected in a 2001 vehicle that the dash would crack/break up. I told her I had a even older ford with no dash issues and it was quality. She would not admit that anyone else had a dash issue with their dodge and would not say if they have ever replaced a defective dash in an out of warranty vehicle. She said dodge owners have to take the vehicle to a dodge dealership and pay to have it examined for dash cracks at the vehicle owner's expense. The dash cracks, falling apart are hazzardous in my professional opinion. They can cut occupants of the cab of the vehicle and critical wiring, also allowing condensation or other items to get into the critical wiring sections of the vehicle. It is a potential hazzard.

Dodge is worth avoiding. The ford I have is quality in the interior design even though it cost far less then the dodge that I have issues with and have owned since it was new. I informed dodge that I most likely will not buy another dodge product, and that includes any of the other company items they own (Chrysler).

PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO DO BUSINESS WITH DODGE. STICK WITH FORD, A TRUE USA OWNED COMPANY, NOT A FOREIGN OWNED COMPANY LIKE DODGE ALLEGEDLY NOW IS.

crack in the dashboard crack in the dashboard crack in the dashboard

I had a 97 dodge ram 1500 that I had no problem with. What happened to the newer models? Is the dodge company using a cheaper grade plastic or what? I love my dodge, but I don't like my dash. My dash started cracking and it's turning into the energizer bunny. It just keeps going and going and doesn't want to stop. I have a 2001 dodge 2500 Laramie SLT 4x4. I've found complaints about the dashes on the 2000 model but from the looks of my truck, the 2001 model is just as bad. I have always taken care of my truck and I know that it's NOT from sun damage. Whatever the company has changed, they need to change back. The constant popping sound when i'm going down the road is highly nerve racking. They need to have a recall on the dashes and put some good once in, instead of the cheap grade.

2001 Dodge Ram 2500 Dashboard cracked so bad that it finally caved in. The pieces that fell into the dash must have done some damage to the high/lo beam switch. I went to turn on the high beams and the headlights went out. I could have gotten into a really bad accident and caused a fatality to myself or to some other innocent family. Is this what it takes before Dodge has a recall on this very dangerous situation? WHAT WILL IT TAKE ???
