The driver door ajar light comes on and the shift to park warning comes on the bells dings and all inside lights stay on.whether the car is on or not, the lights stay on. I've had to replace my battery because the lights won't shut off. I cannot open and close the door to get the warning to go off. Also the dash lights an overhead lights will come on when no one has even been in the car it's making me crazy!! I called Ford customer service ad the told me to try to get my third party warranty to cover the repairs.this is all bull crap, Ford needs to recall and repair everyone's problem.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the door ajar light was illuminated and the interior lighting remained illuminated. It was difficult for the contact to lock the doors while the lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the results were unknown. The mechanic sprayed compressed air in between the door contacts, which remedied the issue temporarily. The failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of failure. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.

The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. The contact stated that the gear shifter stick was placed in the drive position and an unknown beeping sound was heard. The contact stated that the doors unlocked independently and a message on the instrument panel instructed the contact to park the vehicle immediately. The door ajar warning light for the driver side illuminated. In addition, the dome lights illuminated independently and could not be switched off. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the door ajar switch in the door handle failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 55,000.

  • 52,700 miles
Driver door ajar light would not go off, even though the door seemed to be closed. Thus doors would not lock and occasionally warning lights would flash, distracting me as I drove. I took the car to my local Ford dealer and was told it was a faulty front door latch, which they replaced for $425.65. See #2 on the attached.

The door ajar indicator remains lit even when door is properly secured. This results in the interior lighting remaining on and failure of the door locks to properly activate, even at highway speed. I am a former investigator for the U.S. dot and I find this to be a very dangerous situation which should be recalled. If the doors are not properly locked there is an increased risk to occupants of the vehicle in the event of a crash.

The door latch sensor doesn't seem to be working. The door is closed but is says it's not. I can not lock the doors and my overhead lights stay on and the battery will die. I've taken it into the dealership before and they say the sensors are dirty and they cleaned them, but it didn't fix the problem. It happens at all times (stationary or moving)

  • 56,000 miles
Drivers side door ajar warning indicator will not shut off. The interior dome light stays on until approx moving 5mph. A few times the light came back on when stopped at a red light or stop sign. The doors will not stay locked, as the system thinks the door is open. After stopping and exiting the vehicle, you are unable to lock the door using the key less entry keypad. The only way to lock the doors is to use the key fob. This was an intermittent problem, now the warning light stays on all the time.

  • 31,000 miles
My driver door ajar light stays on and will not lock the doors even though it is clearly shut completely. This allows the dome light to remain on also. After several times of opening and shutting it finally registers that it is closed. Had my mechanic look at it he cleaned it and lubed it which cleared it for a day but is doing it again. Looks like it needs a whole new door latch. I have found many complaints about this same issue but no recall from Ford. This has been happening for approx. 1 month but has gotten progressively worse.

problem #321

Mar 212016

  • miles
My driver side door ajar alarm is constantly activated, even when the door is shut tightly. Because the door ajar is always activated my car alarm has started going off randomly, so now I can no longer lock my car without fear that the alarm will be set off while I'm away from the vehicle. While driving the sensor for the door ajar keeps dinging, which is very distracting and causes confusion. It also refuses to go off no matter how many times I try closing the door, so there is no way so stop the dinging or alarms while the vehicle is in operation.

problem #320

  • 58,000 miles
At the end of February my "door ajar" light kept staying on after closing it- I had to repeatedly close it to get the light to go off. On March 5th my vehicle lost power while traveling down a main highway at night with my 2 year old daughter. I had to pull over and wait for someone to come help us. I am just thankful I wasn't on a major highway or interstate when this happened. I called Ford on March 7th to question it and they told me to take it in. I learned on March 15th that the driver's side door latch had gone bad and since it stayed on it killed my battery along with my throttle body had gone bad in my car as well. I researched and found several other Ford models that had these same issues with recalls or customer satisfaction programs but my particular vehicle and parts weren't covered. I have in turned been waiting now 5 weeks for the throttle body part for my car, which has left me having to borrow a way to go because I can't afford to fix my car and pay for a rental. Ford still will not tell me why the part is backordered. I don't see why its my responsibility to pay for these repairs when there are so many other Ford in this year range with these same issues that are being covered. I never thought it would take 5 weeks to come up with a part and now the anticipated ship date has been moved from April 8th to April 28th. This is uncalled for. My car is my only way to go and too new to be having these types of issues. My only assumption is there are an excessive amount of Ford vehicles with these same issues and Ford should be covering them for faulty parts.
