This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
July 21, 2019 driving along on a 35 mph road and car just stopped accelerating when pushing gas pedal. Wrench indicator appeared and had to put car in neutral to safely pull over. Car did restart after shutting off. Same incident happened an hour later going the same speed. We researched and found the numerous other Ford Edge same complaints that the throttle body was in need of replacement. Had it replaced and car is running smooth with no problems. This was a very scary and concerning issue. I can't imagine being on the expressway like others have experienced. Ford make this right and put out a recall.
2013 Ford Edge current issue: Without any warning brakes started hissing and screeching. In the same day the brakes were hard to press and did not stop the car and then they were loose to the floor, but they did not stop the car. I googled and found out that some vehicles with the same year 2013 have a recall, but my VIN was not included. The symptoms lead to a failing break booster. My cars information system check does not show any warnings, brakes say ok, but I am not able to drive my car. The brakes are not grinding. Twice I had to swerve onto the shoulder of the highway to avoid rear ending the car in front of me. This is frightening to occur to anyone without a system warning.
The door ajar light is staying on, as well as the map lights. Runs the battery down. The map lights come on at will including during the night. Wife has gotten in the Edge and the door ajar light will come on and it starts beeping. Ford has been aware of this door switch since 2007 and refuses to recall all the cars and trucks that have this switch. I have gone on line and there are millions of complaints. We are if fear of this casing a fire or worse yet for some reason not allowing the air bag to deploy in a crash. My wife is scared to drive this SUV and Ford refuses to acknowledge there is a problem and a recall is needed.
The door ajar light stays on when all doors are securely closed. The light randomly comes on while driving or while parked. This causes the dome light to remain on, which drains the battery.
The "drivers door ajar light" stays on even with the door securely closed. I had to slam it a few times, which I feel is improper procedure, to disengage the light. Upon securing vehicle, the interior lights won't disengage. This drains the battery life, where upon I need to buy a new battery. While driving at night, the interior light stays on, which makes it hard to see. Is there or will there be a recall for this very important problem "?"
"takata recall" the warning light that L passenger door is ajar stays on -- even when door is closed. This apparently drained the battery; had to jump the car to get it started. The dome light stays on. This has especially been a problem for the past several weeks. This occurs whether the car is stationary or in motion.
Door does not close properly. Door ajar light always goes off even after slamming the door shut. I have had this fixed by a dealership twice and it still doesnt work and the doors wont lock and the battery dies. This happens when shutting the door when statiinary.
The electric components in my Ford Edge is a major safety harazd with locking the SUV rear doors both left and right of my SUV.very very concern with the safety aspects as I am a parent of 2 kids age between 10-12 years old...I need reassurance that Ford will recall my 2013 Ford Edge SE SUV before there's a very very serious situation.please help me to help my family safety...thank you
The drivers door door ajar sensor does not register when the door is closed. This leads to the door ajar light remaining on during travel, the interior lights remaining on during travel, doors will fail to lock during travel, and an audible alarm each time you stop the vehicle for a stop sign or stop light.
Front passenger door ajar warning comes on, leaving interior lights on running battery down. When I am driving interior lights on it's really hard to drive in the evening/night time. My mechanic checked the door and said it's electrical issue not mechanical. First it happened when I was driving the lights turned on and on the dashboard was sigh passenger door ajar. All the doors were definitely closed. I didn't get recall when should've cause this's safety hazard driving with interior light on in night time.
The driver's door says 'door ajar' when it is closed. Then, my 2013 Ford Edge dome light stays on while driving. I try to open and close the door several times as well lock and unlock the door. After several minutes of trying - I can get it to turn off. This issue has been happening for over 2 months!
Driver door sensor is not acknowledging that the door is closed. When driving, the door ajar warning appears on the console which prevents the doors from automatically locking. This issue also cause the interior lights to stay on while driving and can't be manually turned off.
