Takata recall my 2013 Ford Edge has been experiencing issues with the door. It constantly tells me my door is open when it is in fact closed. The lights stay on and if I try to drive the car it gives me a warning saying shift to park and that the door is open. It's been happening continusly and sometimes the door won't lock at all. It normally happens when I'm in park but as of recently it's happened as im droving. I'm also having issues with my brakes hitting the floor and my car excellerating instead of slowing down when the brakes are pressed...this normally happens on a freeway when I'm driving at high speeds.
The door ajar sensor on the driver side door will not go off when shutting the door. It has been doing this for a month now. It poses a safety risk to children in the back seat who may open a unlocked door now because of this sensor failing to operate because of Ford horrible engineering
While it starts intermittently, the 'door ajar' light is coming on ' and staying on even when the door is certainly closed. Over time there is no amount of door slamming that can get that warning light to shut off. It's most likely an electrical issue related to the switch inside the latch mechanism. While the door will mechanically latch, issues with the switch make the door appear to be open to the car's electronic control unit (ECU). It doesn't matter if the vehicle is in park, drive, neutral, reverse. The light still remains on when attempting to close the door. This has been happening for several months.
The sensor on the back driver's side door is making it appear the door is ajar when it is not. This causes the dome light to stay on and is affecting the alarm on the car.

Driver door ajar warning even though door is closed. Occurs while stationary and while in motion. Prevents drivers door from being locked while the vehicle is in motion presenting a safety hazard to the driver.
Door ajar light stays on when doors are definitely shut tight. Sometimes the door locks will not automatically lock when the car is put in drive. Sometimes the dome lights stay on which can be a problem at night.
Door latch closed sensor not working. Well documented issue amongst thousands of Ford owners. Door either will not register as closed, or will appear to have come open while driving, causing interior lights to come on at night, doors not to lock properly, battery to drain over night, etc. This issue was a recall for Ford several years back on different models but they are not being recalled anymore and this needs to be changed, it is a major concern. For me it has been ongoing for several months, steadily getting worse.
The "door ajar" light and chime won't turn off, even though the door is definitely closed. The fob won't open the door. The overhead courtesy lights stay on when the ignition is off because the electronics indicate the door is open. This drains the battery. This problem first occurred around 2015, while the car was in its bumper to bumper phase. They fixed it lickity split. Now, in its extended Ford warranty, you can likely guess, it isn't covered. For $486 they can put a new lock sensor in the door. Guaranteed to be my last Ford product.
On drivers front door, door ajar warning lamp intermittently comes on, even after repeatedly opening/closing door, & interior lamp stays on because of this. Occurs upon entering car from parked position. Was repaired under warranty once before about 1 1/2 years ago.
Driver side door ajar alarm remains on after door is closed. Constant alarms when stopping to place vehicle in park. Doors will not lock and lighting remains on in car.
Driver side door gives warning of door ajar when door is cocompletely shut, causing the safety of my 5 year old and I to be compromised by the vehicles inability to lock the doors while in motion as well as leaving the interior lights on which impairs evening visability. Lastly it continues to provide a warning alarm which impairs drivers concentration and ability to maintain Focus and safety on the road and on other drivers as well as driving safety procedures. Problem.is intermittent amd will happen when parked or randomly while driving. Problem persists even after slamming door, which can cause further damage to the proper functionality and safety of the vehicle that is controlled through the doors control pannel. If issue persists I plan on filing with the BBB in regards to this issue and the negligence of Ford in this hazardous compromise on safety for those in the vehicle, especially in cases including youth and children.
The contact owns a 2013 Ford Edge. While driving various speeds, the door ajar warning indicator illuminated. The contact also stated that the rear passenger door independently unlocked. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Door ajar light remains on regardless that doors are properly latched. Hazards: Unable to lock doors due to the fact that vehicle believes door is open. Was recently in a bad area of town in a parking lot and was unable to lock the doors for myself and infant. Overhead light will not turn off because vehicle believes door is open. While driving at night (especially when backing out of driveways) it is incredibly hard to see because the dome light remains on. Back window is impossible to see out of in the dark with the dome light on. Dome light will over go over after reaching a certain speed. These are serious safety issues! not being able to see and not being able to lock doors are very serious issues! after this many complaints, Ford should be held accountable to perform a recall for this issue! this is not a $20 part that needs replaced, it's a $450-$500 repair issue that some families don't have the ability to pay for!
Right driver door ajar stays lite even with door shut. This causes inside light to stay on till car is driven approximately 50ft. This light staying on causes visibility to be poor especially at night is a safety issue.this has been happening since I bought car new and has just continued to get worse.
