CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2013 Edge has its fair share of problems, but chief among them is an annoying “door ajar” warning light that won’t shut off even when the door is most definitely closed. While the retina-burning, ever-present false reminder on your dashboard is bad, it points to a deeper problem that can drain the battery, leave the doors unlocked while in motion, or render the key fob useless.

The door ajar switch is not working correctly, my interior and exterior lights stay on after I lock the doors, the door ajar chime rings the whole time I'm driving. This impedes visibility, attention, and could have adverse safety consequences.

Drivers door shows ajar when door is actually closed. This is definitely a safety issues as the doors will not lock when this is happening. Battery will die because the dome lights will not go off when vehicle is parked. This is an issue and these cars need to be recalled. Just purchased car.

The driver door ajar warning stays on and will not shut off even when door is shut and the doors will not lock. This is when the vehicle is moving. The warning tells you to put the vehicle in park even when driving down the road. It makes a signal sound that will not stop. The inside light will not shut off. Will it run the battery down?

Driver door ajar light stays on due to a faulty switch within the door. This is a serious safety concern as the doors won't lock while driving and the interior lights stay on which is dangerous when driving at night. This is an ongoing issue and Ford fails to acknowledge the issue. There should be a recall issued to correct this problem.

Drivers door ajar display is on when the door is closed. Takes multiple attempts to close door for the display light to go away. When light is on, doors won't lock and do not know if a real door ajar message is valid. Also, car loses power when driving. Just loses power and is extremely dangerous if you can't get off the road in time before getting hit. Have read many complaints about both safety issues with the Edge, door lock sensor and halfshaft retention circlip coming loose.

The driver side door ajar light remains on even when the door is closed. The dealership notified me of the locking sensor/assembly being faulty and that I need to have this changed because the battery can drain. Repairs cost about $400 since I was 3,000 miles beyond of the warranty.

I repeatedly get a driver door ajar message even though the door is closed. This can occur as soon as I start the engine or when the automatic locks try to engage as I start to drive. There have been times when it came on after driving for a longer period of time. The locks do not engage and this causes the interior lights to come on and a chiming sound along with a message to put the car in park. It is a major distraction to drive with the chiming which goes off briefly when braking but then right back on when I hit the gas again. Besides that if I'm driving at night the interior lights make it difficult to see where I'm going. It also makes me feel very uneasy driving with children or in an unsafe neighborhood knowing that I cannot keep the doors locked. I've tried closing the door multiple times. I usually give up after 6 or 7 trys. I've had the car in for service 4 times for this problem. It seems to be fixed temporarily but after a few months it starts all over again. I can't believe that this is not a safety hazard and that there isn't a permanent fix.

Drivers side door latch. " door ajar" does not go off. Causes door locks to not engage when car is in motion. Chime rings whenever car stops in traffic. You can reset with acknowledgment, but the alarm immediately goes off when car stops at a light or stop sign. Started happening off and on, but as time went on it happened every time driving car.

Purchased this vehicle March 29, 2016. Less than 2 months later the vehicle started randomly stalling and going into limp mode and I had to pull over on the busy DC highway with 2 small children in the back which was extremely dangerous. The check engine light and a wrench light came on but it cut off after a restart. Auto zone couldnt read the codes unless the car was malfunctioning at the time which happens randomly. Since the car is still within the powertrain warranty I took it to the Ford dealership and they diagnosed it as P2111 electric throttle body failure. The advisor agreed that this has been a common problem in Ford models and I read that a consumer safety program was started for other Ford models with the exact same problem. The advisor said it is not covered by the powertrain warranty and since there is no recall for this problem with Ford Edges I have to pay $800+ dollars to have it repaired. This is outrageous. Apparently someone has to lose their life before Ford issues a recall on this known issue. I hope the NHTSA steps in before something tragic happens! ive attached a picture showing the lights on the dash after about the 10th time the car stalled.

The faulty door closed switch and/or design is indicating the drivers side door is open when it is not. This issue is causing all the doors to remain unlocked while driving or unlock during driving if it goes off. This problem has been addressed by the Ford dealership twice and now it is out of warranty they do not want to fix it. It needs to be recalled.

My car keeps shutting off while driving. I searched online and there are multiple sites that indicate there was a recall on the electric throttle body. Ford says my VIN is excluded from this warranty. I feel this needs to be looked at since it may be affecting a wider range than previously discovered.

Electronic throttle body failure resulting in loss of power. Engine stalled while in heavy traffic. Driver and 3 passengers endangered while turning left across 2 lanes of oncoming traffic, vehicle stalls creating a deadly situation. Vehicle was towed to dealership where upon testing the faulty etb was confirmed. Ford won't cover it. Vehicle was purchased new in Dec. 2012( 35000 miles ). Ford has a problem with etb's on other models and extended coverage to 10 years/ 150000 miles. Why is my vehicle not covered with such a dangerous part failure?

Driver side door ajar issue- when the door is closed the door ajar light will come on while driving or while parked. The interior lights will stay on even while driving at night. The door locks will also not stay locked. This will happen whether driving on the highway or in the city. Every time you drive the car this will happen. When the car is turned off and parked the interior lights will stay on. I have to open and close the door several times in order for the lights to finally shut off.
