CarComplaints.com Notes: There was plenty of hope that Ford would fix their “door ajar†warning light issue for the 2014 model year. This widespread problem has caused the previous 3 model years to stay on top of defect trend lists.
So far, the 2014 Edge doesn't share the poor reputation of prior model years.

This vehicle is rated at 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. Don't believe it! This vehicle gets mileage that is from 21% to 44% below what the sticker states. I have also asked several random drivers of Ford Edges or Explorers about their mileage and everyone of them appear to get better mileage (according to them).
The Ford dealer just says that, "If their tester shows everything within specs, they can do nothing". All Ford wants to say is every driver is different, I have been driving for over 50 years and feel that I do know how to drive conservatively. As a matter of fact, I made sure that (for two tanks) we drove very well (never a shift point that exceeded 2500 rpm) and the mileage stunk.
Emails to Ford were ignored. A letter to Ford CEO and their "Customer Relations" have gone unanswered.
Think twice before considering one of these vehicles!
