CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.

This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

The backup camera problem Ford is having goes way back at least to 2014. It is obviously a connection quality issue because it works fine for a while then cuts out and becomes unavailable. It might come back on or it might not, sometimes it will work when you first put in reverse and then it conks out after a few seconds. This has been going on for almost as long as we have had the vehicle, so if I had logged each incident individually from the beginning it would be hundreds of entries by now.

This should also be a right-to-repair issue because I doubt if it would take five minutes with a soldering iron if I could get to the circuit board. It behaves like a broken or cold solder connection on a connector would.
