CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.

This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

The community I live is landlocked (juneau, Alaska) and the one Ford dealership closed its doors a year and half later; since this time there is still not Ford dealership or authorized Ford garage in the juneau area to correct these six recalled items - Ford tells my I have to take it to dealer myself, however the cost to Transport the 2014 Escape would cost in the thousands in transportation cost. I've called Ford several times over the years, and refused to send to send a technician or offer a local repair shop to fix these recalled items; some of recalled items are pretty serious (possible engine fire, and transmission slipping in or out gear). Please help as I try to get Ford to fix, but they offer nothing more expensive cost to me for defective product. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

I am concerned that the design of the headrest is not safe. I was in an accident recently where I was simply rear ended. I have a fairly serious concussion that I have had for nearly four weeks. I believe that I got the concussion because my head hit the visor and then the bottom edge, that jarts out, on the head rest.

The contact owned a 2014 Ford Escape. While driving approximately 35 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and was rear ended by another vehicle. As a result, the contact crashed into another vehicle. The driver's seat fell backwards due to the impact. As a result, the contact lost control of the steering and crashed into the guardrail. The air bags failed to deploy. In addition, the key failed to release from the ignition switch and the doors failed to open, which prevented the contact from exiting the vehicle. The contact sustained back and chest injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to a tow lot. The VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16V643000 (latches/locks/linkages). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000.

After reaching down between the seat and center console to grab something that fell, I severely cut my hand and ended up needing 4 stitches. The gash went all the way down to my tendon. There is exposed, unfinished metal immediately under the driver seat and it is very easy to cut your hand on.

I was driving on southfield freeway in Michigan about 5:15 pm, I was in the left lane when traffic stopped. I stopped along with the car in front of me. At this time the car behind did not stop going somewhere between 20-40mph hit my car in the back and pushed me into the car in front of me. The air bags did not deploy even though I got hit from behind and pushed into another vehicle. The force was so strong that it broke my driver seat and my glove box. My Ford Escape was total loss in the accident. I suffered some bumps and bruises and whiplash and did go to the er for these injuries.
