CarComplaints.com Notes: The top problem trend for the 2014 Escape is transmission failure at around 70k miles.

This is relatively low mileage for an expensive transmission failure ($4,500 average to fix), but unless the trend becomes more established, we are only awarding the 2014 Escape our "Beware of the Clunker" badge for now.

The contact owns a 2014 Ford Escape. The contact stated that the electronic power steering warning indicator illuminated and the steering wheel seized. The contact had to apply force to turn the steering wheel in either direction. The dealer (cavalier Ford greenbrier, 1515 S military hwy, chesapeake, va 23320, (757) 424-1111) diagnosed that the steering rack and pinion needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not included in NHTSA campaign number: 14V284000 (steering). The manufacturer was notified and suggested that the dealer repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was not available.
