All 4 tires are separating, which was verified by a mechanic. They observe the exact same problem as the 15 in tires that are on recall. (tiresize: 16)( dot number: Tire size: 16 )
We are requesting assistance from NHTSA due to the fact that today upon returning home from work, we examined the tires on our vehicle as we do often due to the problem with the Firestone tires on Explorer, and found that all four tires are beginning to " seperate in exactly the same location " as all the other tires that have been recalled, the rear being worse than the front but all have the same seperation. You can actually see the steel inside of the tires in some places, right where the tread starts. We have been on the phone with Firestone locally and the dealer where we purchased the vehicle just this past April 2000, and no-one wants to help. The only help we have been offered is to "prorate" our tires, not " replace" them. Fortunately we caught this problem before an accident, but now with this being the only vehicle we have to get back and forth to work and no-one wanting to replace them, what are we to do " could this be an addition that needs to be recalled asap as well before anyone dies ?" Pulled into parking lot off highway. Tire went flat with loud pop. Upon inspection of tire, noted sidewall had burst, leaving approx 4 inch split in sidewall from rim to tread. Had pressurized tire to approx 30 psi per recall instructions. Firestone dealer in voorhees, NJ replaced at no charge for tire. Dealer did charge for mounting. Tire had less than 5000 miles wear, purchased in March 2000. (dot number: 8xhl tiresize: P235/75R15)
All 4 tires have cracks all the around the edge.the dealer told me that they were not part of the recall.my question was you should replace the tires under the warranty.he told me to go to a Firestone dealer as they were the manufacurers.the Firestone dealer said that the cracks were due to aging and this was normal and I should not worry.I find it very hard to believe that this is the case, after only 24000 and less than 3 years. I was informed today that I have Wilderness AT tires dot code vd and W2, but the tread on all 4 of my tires is bad. I have 35000 miles on these tires and was told they should be good for 60000 miles. I am to take my vehicle to a Firestone dealer tomorrow for them to determine if these tires are defective. Seems to me there is something wrong with these tires, and it doesn't matter which plant they were made in.( dot number: Tire size: P235/75R15 )
I took my Explorer in to have the tires checked. I was told they were not included in the recall but that they were falling apart and needed replacement. I am unable to afford new tires right now so I am forced to drive on dangerous tires. Can you help me?( dot number: Tire size: P235 )

Was washing vehicle when cracks were noticed in the tread of the tires. One of the tires, right front, was splitting away from the tread. All four tires have been replaced. Tires were manufacted in Canada. Have the tires. Firestone wilderness P235/75R15 with 52,000 miles.
While driving the tires failed to perform and made the car slip into ditch. I had to get it pulled out and I had it looked at the Ford dealer. The dealer and Firestone recommended to me that they would replace the tires free of charge so the car will not do it again. It is now September 22, 2000 and I have not heard them giving the tires as the said they would. I received a letter from Bridgestone/Firestone recalling my Wilderness AT tires. Please help me because I could have been killed like the other accidents. I feel Bridgestone/Firestone is cheating and lying to us. Congress supports my request. Thank you.
