Visors Inside Cracked And Both Were Hanging By Wires
2005 Ford Explorer
This problem may be covered under warranty. Ask your Ford dealer.
CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2002-2005 Explorer has a very well-established record of expensive transmission failure at under 100k miles. The Explorer has an enclosed transmission which is typically replaced with a rebuilt transmission at a cost of almost $3,000.
Adding insult to injury, the 2002-2005 Explorer also has a massive problem with the rear panel cracking. While it's a minor annoyance compared to transmission failure, ironically the crack usually goes right through the Ford logo.

- The Silver Bullet Bracket - EZ Clip Sun Visor Brackets.... (Patent Pending) This website offers a very simple and cost effective solution. Two simple brackets made from Aluminum... use original screws and this fixes the problem. Clip the OEM plastic cover over the brackets once installed and you will never know the difference. I just ordered a set to fix the same problem on my 2005 Ford Explorer XLT. $25 solution is far better than $200 solution from Ford.

Is Ford retarded or what?? Any sane person knows that a piece of plastic when under continual stress of working the visors up and down, that the plastic piece will crack and crumble apart! Morons! Actually, the first one broke before the warranty was out, barely. Real smart, making us have to replace the whole visor.
The second time it broke was a few years later. I wasn't buying a whole new visor again and saw some crazy U shaped metal pieces that someone devised to fix the problem. The metal pieces fit around the arm of the visor, It screws on then the plastic cover snaps over them. My husband manufactured a couple ad we fixed it, not a perfect solution, (the visor wobbles when in the down position) but.......works ok. Now the second visor snapped out the other day.
Someone is making a mint on an updated fix available on Amazon for $17. $30 at the auto parts store. Thankfully, it is NOT Ford profiting from this fix and of course they say there is no problem with the design, that I must be hanging on the visor. What, now they are calling me a monkey? I can assure that I take care of my vehicles. They make things cheapo, so consumers are keeping them rich, having to constantly repair their products.
