Strange gaseous fumes noticed in 2013 Ford Explorer - most noticable at full throttle, driving on highway and coming to a stop. It persisted for couple of weeks so took car to dealer 12/29. Mechanic could not smell anything and car returned with no fix. Took car back in on Jan 6th. Dealer notified me of the service notification and perfromed a fix including exhaust replacement. Problem was then resolved but I had to pay for teh issue which was obviously already known.
Windshield molding on driver side suddenly detached and went flying off on the highway. Plastic molding is attached and glued. Plastic and glue appeared to break / melt unable to hold the molding in place. It is a critical hazard as the flying molding can hit a vehicle / person causing a serious accident or harm. Last year, the molding on the passenger side was replaced by the dealership as it was loose. Dealer noted that 1) the molding on the Explorer was a bad, plastic made part, that been replaced on other Explorer as the molding went flying off on the highway, and 2) there may be water damage to the vehicle due to the missing part. Flying objects on a highway are serious hazards that can cause serious accidents, event death. Ford needs to recall the plastic made parts and find a way to attach a molding that do not break / melt. I am seriously concern for the safety of other and the liability risk the inherent liability to the owners of Explorer if an accident or harm is caused by such defective part.
Vehicle recently started filling with fumes, seemingly exhaust fumes, while ac unit on and vehicle moving. Continued while stationary. Fumes stopped coming in when ac unit turned off. Fumes were sickening. Driving at about 25-30 mph in town.
While driving on the highway the molding around the windshield detached, broke in half and flew off the vehicle. This is the second time this has happened to me.

For the last two weeks the "door ajar"light stays on after starting engine and closing door. Door is properly closed but indicator on dash remains on. Interior lights stay on. Doors will not lock when driving. Chime reminder dings, and a message to put car in park will appear in display screen. This all happens when attempting to drive. Very distracting and dangerous. Don't know if door will stay closed in event of accident and sitting at stop lights in certain areas with door unlocked is not safe.
Getting exhaust fumes in the cabin of vehicle at times. Sometimes so bad that it makes you sick nauseous and headaches. Ford refuses to fix problem under there warranty. It happens at any time slow or at highway speeds when using the ac or heater it is even worse.
Loss of power steering. After experiencing loss of power steering on multiple occasions I performed online research and became aware of safety recall 14S06. I contacted Ford for resolution and they informed me my vehicle is not subject to recall. The vehicle with some 19,000 miles is our of warranty (>36 months). Ford indicated that any repairs for this dangerous condition would be at owner expense. The vehicle was produced on the assembly line in Chicago which was the origin of the vehicle defect which prompted the recall. However, it appears to have been assembled approximately 1 month after the recall cut-off. I contend that the defect was still present and the recall should be broadened. This is a serious defect with potential life threatening consequences. Ford has been unreceptive in even investigating the matter. The vehicle was moving on the occasions when the power steering failed, while negotiating a curve. My professional driver indicated that the car had to be stopped and the vehicle restarted to reset the power steering. No driver feedback of a trouble code.
Started my engine. Truck was in park and I feel this bouncing/shaking which is quite strange. Have no idea what that can be and how dangerous it is while driving. Another time it happened was when I came to a complete stop, still in drive and again the bouncing/ shaking feeling I experienced again. I was on a smooth city street.
The tailgate lift is unsafe. It does not detect when someone is under it when it lowers. I did not know the person behind the car had pushed the button on tailgate to lift it. My daughter had bent over placing things in back. Unknown to me, I pushed the button inside car to lift the gate, but instead it lowered. It could have squeezed the breath out of my daughter.
I currently own a 2013 Ford Explorer that has approximately 51K miles. I've noticed on more than one occasion, that during periods of sustained driving we experience odor of certain gases or fumes. These odors are not constant, but they are present within the cab even while the windows are secure. Again, the only experiences of these incidents so far are during periods of driving for 2 or more hours continuously. I've checked with the Ford Motor Company, and searched online and I haven't found any recall information regarding emission problems of this nature. We, our family would appreciate if more research could be done on this matter. We personally believe that may lead to a health related illness/injury. I have Goodyear fortera P245/65R17 105T tires as oem on this vehicle.the tread has dry rotted cracks just like the tires recalled in 2015.the first sign of problem was tire light coming on. Why are these tire being recalled also?

When accelerating gas fumes smell inside vehicle (rotteb eggs) after couple of hours driving getting bad headache from it. It's very harmful for people inside car, because it my cost CO2 poisoning. Dealer have no fix for it.
Under heavy acceleration (I.e. highway on-ramp), a very strong odor (burning rubber, exhaust?) enters the cabin. This happens every time, whether the ac is on or off, recirculating or fresh air. The odor is extremely strong and lasts several minutes. I'm especially concerned for my 3 year old son who is exposed to this.
I have 44,000 miles and over the past few months have been experiencing exhaust fumes entering the cabin after driving on the expressway for a period of time and coming to a stop with the defrost on and rear A/C
Exhaust gas entering the cabin during hard acceleration or when driving at sustained highway speeds. Appears to be related to rear air conditioning sucking air from underneath rear of car!
I purchased my vehicle from the jennings anderson Ford dealer. It had around 17,000 miles on it. Shortly after I vehicle, I brought it in because the exhaust fumes are being sucked into the vehicle when I accelerate such as getting on the freeway. David savinich (service adviser) told me that Ford was aware of the problem and they had a fix for it. They installed their fix but it is still sucking in exhaust fumes. I talked to jeff asher (service dept manager) and I asked him whether Ford had a fix for it. I was told no. I asked jeff to call me if there was a fix. It has been over a year and their is still no repair. I get a bad headache every time I get on the freeway. It is so bad that it also makes me nauseated. I am unable to use the air conditioner recirculatation in the car.
