2013 Ford Explorer XLT drivers side arm rest splitting between seams. Splitting is expanding on drivers door side. Checked online and many others have the same concern with this model year 2013
Continue to smell a bad odor from vents. Contacted Ford, went to dealer today, did free fiix, but problem not still exists. It does this occassionally and last few minutes.
Continue to smell a bad odor from vents. Contacted Ford and wanted to bring it in but will cost money to have it checked out. It does this occassionally and lasts a few minutes. Previously have smelled a strong gas odor which made me have a severe headache for hours. Thought there going to be a recall. Have 2013 base model.
This vehicle has the exhaust fume issue where the cabin fills with exhaust fumes and is difficult to drive due to the smell. You have to drive with the windows down in order to tolerate driving. The recent recall was done - vehicle taken to dealer to have the ac reprogramed and tailgate seals inspected. This did not work. We will be trading the vehicle in and purchasing another vehicle soon. This issue needs to be addressed. Ford has had too many safety and quality issues that go ignored by the manufacturer. This vehicle also has the peeling paint issue that Ford refused to address as well. Poor quality - unacceptable.
My Ford Explorer 2013 back tailgate window shattered. It was cold out about 30 degrees but my rear defrost was not on at all that day. I drove my car to work which is about a 15 minute drive. I got in the left hand turn lane to make a left turn into my work and it shattered. No car behind me. I was going about 5 miles per hour. I then turned into the parking lot of my work.

The air conditioner stopped sending out cool air after a long drive back in February 2018 it then started smelling like exhaust in the vehicle for several days later until it was confirmed with my husband who also smelled it, I took it in to the dealer, they had already performed the recall inspection and this time did an additional step in patching. Currently the car ventilation when ac or heater is turned off when driving blows out warm air and there is still a light smell of exhaust in the vehicle that was recently noticed after a month after the additional patching. We now realize back in July 2017 we also took the car in for the same reason the air conditioner stopped working after a long drive out of the city, we do not remember there being a smell of exhaust then like there is now.
My 2013 Ford Explorer XLT 3.5L transmission started leaking fluid before 27,058 miles on June 14,2016 and as of today March 3,2018 at 44,678 miles the transmission is still leaking. The problem was brought to my dealership's attention during a repair of blistering paint on the hood. Dealer stated they fixed leaking oil pan rather than leaking transmission. As of today vehicle has 44,678 miles and transmission has shown several problems when in operation: Gears take too long to transfer power from 2nd to 3rd, 4th to 5th, severe over revving of engine, jerking feeling coming from transmission while transitioning through those gears, abnormal loud sounds emitting from transmission during these gear changes, leaking and dripping of transmission fluid onto hot transmission case, burning of transmission fluid and vapors entering vehicle cabin, and passengers complaining of noxious oil smell within the cabin.
One car accident hit guard rail then ran in the neutral ground all four tires blowout. Blurred vision could not find the interstate. Gulose level 34 not a diabetic. Need to investigate SUV totaled. On highway, in motion
Vehicle in motion when all of a sudden would slow down to a crawl and lose ability to accelerate. Yellow wrench warning light would then light up. Happened twice and almost had serious accident. Also would experience burning smell when accelerating up a hill. Previously reported to dealer but they would not believe.
My wife and I took a trip for a baby shower, it was about a 2.5 hr drive. On the way there, the check engine light turned on. There were no other warnings or indications of an issue. We made it fine to our destination, drove around town a little bit, and stayed the night. The next day we headed home (another 2.5 hr trip). The check engine light was on the entire time, but there were no abnormal noises or odors, or any other indication that there was an issue. When we got home, we parked the car, turned it off, unloaded, then turned it on to back it into the garage and turn it off again. After sitting in the garage for 10 -15 minutes, the car exploded, shaking the house and catching the engine bay on fire. The engine bay was engulfed in flames, causing fire/smoke damage to our garage and everything in it. An independent investigator stated that the cooling fan had failed, which caused the check engine light, however that seems like not a sufficient reason to why the engine exploded. We are unsure what the root cause was, but something had to have gone very wrong for the car to explode in the garage, ignition off, and stationary and the only indication being a check engine light even if the cooling fan did fail. This all happened just over a week after an oil change at a Ford dealership. This could have been a very dangerous situation that could have very likely ended up in injury or death.
Carbon monoxide smell on the inside of my Explorer made my wife and her friend light headed and started getting headaches and we stop using our explore for our safety and it's know just parked in my garage.and haven't use it anymore.
Bought the vehicule on 01/23/2018.started to smell exhaust while driving.after driving the vehicule, I feel dizzy, nauseous and have a bad headache for about 6 hours.start to feel better when I'm not driving the vehicule.havnt went to doctor for carbon monoxide poisoning yet.taking it to service department on Monday.
I drove this vehicle cross country, while towing a truck on trailer, back while towing a trailer, and again with a U-haul from las vegas to Virginia (up steep grades, and through the mountains, engine under quite a load, while in the summer, using A/C) I got a headache and nauseau. My daughter and nephew, who were passengers, did as well. I got sleepy behind the wheel (this doesn't happen to me and has never happened to me). You can smell the exhaust. I installed a carbon monoxide detector, and it has gone off twice. Ford has done some "fixes" including reprogramming A/C. well, if you use the buttons, instead of the touch screen, you can unknowingly override this reprogramming. They did not tell me this. I go through the gears in the manual mode and drive this hard. You can still smell exhaust and get symptoms. Borrow a fire fighters "sniffer" and drive the vehicle hard and watch the readout. It cant possibly take this long or be that difficult to resolve this investigation. You can even put a carbon monoxide detector in the vehicle and watch-simple. Go through the gears manually, red-lining the vehicle you will get the smell and symptoms. Drive the vehicle hard up a steep grade, you will get the symptoms. Tow with the vehicle up a grade, you will get the smell and symptoms, all with A/C on recirculate. Less so with out it being on recirculate. This has happened form the first trip of 09/07/2015 to current.
Both of my remote controls are not working at all and have to be putting the control in the little box to get my vehicle started and carbon monoxide fumes are present so I stop driving my vehicle for safety precautions of the smell.
As I was driving my car, out of nowhere, my dash started flashing these errors/issues/warnings. The car to seem to be driving normal, so I think. All of a sudden the terrain management system fault light appears, dial no longer works to get 4 wheel drive or traction control system to work, ABS light on! researching and seeing a lot of same issues but after dealer looking at the diagnostics nothing truly wrong? this seems to be happening to a lot of these models.
Engine strains when ac is on and vehicle has stopped. Ac stops working when outside temperature greater than 90 degrees Fahrenheit. Both fans will start blowing loudly when driving vehicle and stopped.
