It's just a bunch of bulls*** - the truck stalled while out shopping. I called tow. It's been over a week - I'm waiting on getting it fixed. NO ONE WANTS TO WORK - shop is shorthanded.

I HAVE OWNED FOUR EXPLORERS OVER THE YEARS AND LIKE THE VEHICLE A LOT...HOWEVER IN ALL THE YEARS OF DRIVING FORDS I HAVE NEVER HAD ANY A/C PROBLEMS AND FEEL THAT THE PARTS USED ARE A POOR QUALITY TODAY. I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANOTHER FORD IN THE FUTURE AS I DO NOT FEEL THAT A FOUR YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH 82,000 KILOMETERS SHOULD HAVE A MAJOR PROBLEM LIKE A FAILED A/C. FORD WOULD DO NOTHING BUT SAY I WAS OVER WARRANTY. I HAVE PUT HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF MILES ON MY VEHICLES AND TAKE CARE OF THEM DOING REGULAR MAINTENANCE AS REQUIRED AND I HAVE NEVER HAD AN A/C MOTOR FAIL. I WILL ALSO ADD THAT I HAD TO REPLACE WITH WINDSHIELD WASHER MOTOR BECAUSE IT FAILED AS WELL...NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THAT EITHER. I AM IN THE MARKET FOR A NEW SUV BUT IT WILL NOT BE A FORD.

Update from Oct 1, 2018: serpentine belt broke and it seems that it caused a problem with the alternator and the battery at 83,000km and naturally just over the warranty period. according to the service tech both had to be replaced. originally the price was $1600.00 and after a lot of heated discussion the price came down to $1050.00. I asked for the parts back but only got the battery and not the alternator back...seems the alternator could not be found.

it seems that service advisors will give you an outrages price to see if it will be accepted and if you don't complaint you will end up paying more that you should. don't take the first price the same as you should never pay list for a car.
