This vehicle has been to the Ford dealership for 4 service bulletins. I asked Ford to find the smell and they said there was none, but people on the street would wave their hands in front of their faces in disgust of the smell when you pulled up alongside of them. They thought I was Pig-Pen from Charlie Brown. I'm never buying a Ford again.

Explorer XLT 3.5L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 135,000 miles

This is the second time I am changing the PTU of my Ford Explorer 2014. The first time I changed it was 3 years back in 2019, this is a huge problem with Ford. The problem was identified when I took my car for regular service and the technician observed that PUT is leaking.

I was very keen of buying a new Ford Explorer after this, but now I am going to stay away from Ford cars.

Explorer Liimited 3.2L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 112,000 miles

My ptu went out on my Explorer at around 112,000 miles. Went to the dealer waited 5 hrs for them to tell me the problem. They said should be covered under power train warranty, I was told warranty was voided because at 90,000 miles because I changed my air filter instead of letting the dealer do it. Told the warranty people I had proof of purchase for filter. Not good enough. Also was told I should have gotten coolant flush. Dealer never said I needed it. Now 2000.00 to get it fixed.
