2001 Ford Focus that have had for 5 months. Took to a mechanic before it was bought, did the carfax, drove it everything that was supposed to be done before purchasing a used car. Just got it back from having the fuel pump fixed and now the steering wheel is locked. Did some research and yet another common problem. Not sure how it is going to get fixed as of yet.

Definately a problem when the car is for a teenager. Luckily not far from home when it happened and wasn't stranded.'

As I stated in my last post NEVER AGAIN A FORD!!!!

Update from Jan 15, 2014: Had the car towed to a mechanic who verified that the car needed a new ignition cylinder. Had it replaced total cost $350.00.

I bought a ford focus because I was assured it was a good dependable car!! I’m a single mother with a young son. I was unable to take my child to school or to go to work because I could not get my key to turn at all! I tried several different ways to get it to turn and even Googled trying to find a solution. I called the dealership they said it is a very common problem yet ford would not acknowledge it as real problem and was told I would have to have it towed then have the cylinder replaced and they have to order which would take 3 to 4 days to receive! Being a single mother and I don’t receive any outside help I have to be able to have a dependable transportation for my child and to be able to keep working. This is a HUGE problem!!!! I have yet to fix the problem because of lack of money since I only have one income. This is beyond ridicules!!! I will never buy another ford again ever!!!!

Went to leave my grandmothers house today, but my key wouldn't turn and my steering wheel was also locked, note when this first started it was 25 degrees outside without the windchill. Upper Michigan

The result it is: hours later and my father is still suffering out in the cold trying to figure out what the problem is. My father and grandfather are both retired mechanics and swear against ford everyday of their lives as far as i've been alive. I see more and more why this is every time that they've had to fix my stupid car and how stupid ford is when assembling their vehicles. I'd literally be without thousands of dollars if these guys weren't here to fix my car every time a problem arose.

F.O.R.D.: Fix or repair daily, or Found On Road Dead. . . .I've had my share of both...

This is my only car. I am a single mom of 4, working full time, and going to school to become a nurse. My work place is 5 miles from my house and school is 60 miles one way. My car is stuck in a parking lot half way across town. I live pay day to pay day like every one else so there is no money to pay for a machanic or the car dealership to fix it. They sure don't make things with pride anymore or Ford would do what is right and recall this part, back their product.

Keys would not turn ignition at ALL. Steering wheel locked up. Had to have it towed to dealership to replace the key ignition switch which involved me havin to get a new set of keys! PAIN! Should have been covered under extended warranty, but the warranty ppl wanted to hassle me and say I was supposed to tell them before I took it in! It was in the middle of the week, I was too worried baout getting it fixed and back to work! I called the VERY NEXT day and OH it was too late!! So everyone, CALL FIRST for warrany issues!!!
