This car has delayed reaction or no reaction at all to pressing the gas pedal. It doesn't go, it'll move a little bit, but mostly just fevs really high then all of a sudden it'll kick in and bolt forward, while driving on highway or from a complete stop, doesn't matter. The car lunges a lot, forward and sideways while driving at 60 mph or faster. Accelerates sometimes on its own. This car is very scary to drive and has no business being on a freeway...ever!

The backseat doors will not latch and or lock. They have to be held together with zip ties. The randomly opened while I was driving down the road. This is a serious safety concern, as I cannot use my care to Transport my child. I know other versions of this same vehicle have had a safety recall issued for this, and I am curious as to why my specific model was left out when I am experiencing the same problems. This car is no longer driveable.

I have had my idler pulley bolt break four times in the last two years. Each time this happens, I have nearly ran off of the road. I have taken it to Ford and they claim they have never heard of it happening even though I have told them I have found numerous reports of the same thing happening to other Ford owners. This is very scary as it happens unexpectedly and Ford doesn't seem to think it is a serious issue. I have seen BMW has had two recalls for this exact issue and an wondering if there is anything we can do to urge Ford to take the same stance on their faulty parts. Here is a link with lots of concerns about the Ford idler pulley bolt repeatedly breaking: Https://www.focusfanatics.com/forum/duratec-performance-2003-2007/296298-another-broken-idler-pulley-bolt.html the fourth time it broke on me was November 28, 2018.

This Focus has been speeding up, without warning. The brakes will not stop it. This has happened about 15 times in the past year. I have taken it to Suburban Ford, where I purchased it, brand new. They don't know what's wrong. Don't know how to fix it, etc. I tell them how frightening this is when it happens. I am so afraid I will hurt someone. They just look at me like I'm nuts. The service manager told me that the technicians don't have a code for unintended acceleration. He said if it were him, he would get a new one. Well, I can't afford a new one, so I'm stuck with it. I have had this speeding up, (and roaring very loudly). When driving on the highway, in the city, or in a parking lot. It almost went flying through a plate glass window of a store there are many articles about this on the computer. I printed them out, and took them with me to the dealership. No one wanted to see them. This happened when I took it to gresham Ford, in gresham, also. No one can fix it, they look at me like I'm crazy, they don't care that this vehicle could hurt or kill someone. It scares me to drive it. So far, no one has been able to help with this problem. Oh, yes, it also does this when it is stationary.....that is when it roars as loud as it can. This car needs a brake override system. There have been numerous Ford models, including pick up trucks, between 2002 and 2010 involved in this problem. 14 states back East were involved in a class action law suit against Ford for this. The fact that these people out here (Oregon) know nothing about it, can't fix it because "there have been no other reports of this happening', is infuriating. The fact that they don't care that someone could get killed is horrible. They don't want to stand behind their product, or do anything to rectify the situation.

While driving my vehicle locally, my car shut off and engine light came on. I was told it was the main flow valve. I have to replace it, but then my key got stuck in the ignition. My friend was able to get it out. On August 12, 2012, my driver seat moved while I was driving and continues to skip on a certain click latch. Indecember, I had to take it back to the mechanic, cause my engine light keeps coming on, but we are unsure as to why it keeps doing that. Every now and then I can smell smoking wires/electrical wires burning. Now my lighter in the car is not working, but I think that runs in a fuse...not sure. On April 13th, 2013. I returned home from a wedding and I am unable to yet again, get the key out of the ignition. I took it to my mechanic and he told me to check to find out if others are having the same problem and what they did. Then my friend told me about the major Ford recall.

The rear passenger exterior door latch has failed. There is an NHTSA campaign id number : 05V030000 for 2005 Ford Focus door latch problems. I called Ford and gave them my VIN number and they said there is no recall for that VIN. In my opinion the NHTSA description of the failure is the same as my problem.

The contact owns a 2005 Ford Focus. While driving approximately 62 mph with the cruise control activated, the contact bumped the floor shifter and the gears shifted from drive into neutral. The RPM's began racing until he turned off the vehicle and pulled off the road. He attempted this scenario a few times and got the same results. The current mileage was 25,166 and failure mileage was 25,100. Updated 05/06/08.

I purchased a 2005 Ford Focus in October of 2004. After a rainstorm in November of 2005, a major leak occurred, leaving over 2 inches of water on the front, passenger floor. The dealership fixed the car. In July of 2006 I found water in the same location. After the dealership looked at the car, they stated that it is coming from a different location (not where they originally sealed it). They went on to tell me that they would have to remove my dashboard, requiring extensive labor, to locate the new cause of the leak. Unfortunately, my warranty is up because I drive far to work. I have only gone 700 miles over my limit. After speaking with many agents at the Ford Motor Company I find I am out of luck. A service representative said that if there were enough complaints they would have to file a recall but he has not had any yet. (I am the first...I find that hard to believe). I went on-line to search for others in my situation. I found numerous websites with complaints of Ford focuses leaking on the passenger floor. Please visit the following sites for additional complaints. www.consumeraffairs.com/ townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.ee9B783/30 www.focusfanatics.com/forum/showthread.php"S=&postid=1134094#post1134094 www.talkaboutautos.com/group/alt.autos.Ford.Focus/search.html"Q=water+leak.
