when cold outside, gas pedal will stick

When cold outside the gas pedal could not be pushed to go, you have to actually stomp on the pedal to get it to go. It is extremely dangerous especially at a traffic light or trying to turn. The problem will go away once the car gets warmed up enough ---sometimes takes it awhile. I took to my mechanic and now every fall sprays WD40 on the accelerator under the hood. Also, my mother had a 2007 Ford Focus and My sister has a 2008 Ford Escape and theirs does the same thing. The first time this happened, I called Ford and they just told me there was no recall on this.

The throttle stuck open above 2000 rpms when attempting to stop the car. This is potentially dangerous and could easily cause an accident. My young daughter was driving and she almost rear ended the car in front of her. She has an extended warranty so it was not a big expense.. I am more concerned with Ford's refusal to issue a recall on a part that is faulty and that could cause injury or death. Obviously the few dollars it would cost them to replace the throttle are more important to them than the lives of their customers.

gas pedal sticks in cold weather

I bought my first new car in Dec 07. It is a 2007 ford focus. Of course I was happy to have my first new car at age 35! It had 13 miles on the speedometer when I got it. However, just about 2 weeks after I got it I got in it one cold morning, cranked it up, put it in drive and noticed that the gas pedal was like frozen stiff! I literally had to stomp on the pedal to unstick it. Then every time u stopped at red light and tried to take off again I had to almost stomp on it again up until the car got really warm, then it wasn't as bad. I didn't give it much thought at first but I've had it 6 yrs now and by golly every time it gets really cold it still happens. Not a wonder I've been through 3 sets of tires. It's a little embarrassing to have to push the pedal so hard at red light that ur tires spin and people look at u like ur crazy. It's also scary if there's snow or ice on the road. Not sure why it does it or what to do about it. Seems I'm the only one here with the problem.
