CarComplaints.com Notes: Power steering problems started rearing their ugly head in the 2010 Fusion, so you'd think Ford had plenty of time to make sure those problems didn't creep into the 2012. But here we are.

The Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) is a mess. It fails at an alarming rate. Don’t believe us? Take a look at NHTSA’s data on the subject.

And much like the power steering, we’re still seeing the same throttle body failures that started in 2010 continue in 2012.

In Aug of 2015 I had to replace the interior door handle on the front passenger side. Now in Aug of 2016 the door handle on the front drivers side broke. It did the same exact thing. I went to open it and it was like it snapped. Now it's loose it just flops in the wind. And the dealership wants $110.00 just to diagnosis it. To me is appears it would be an issue. I want to file a complaint to make this issue known.

SO IT JUST HAPPENS TO BE THAT PASSENGER HANDLE MESSED UP FIRST, NOT LOCKING. NOW THE DRIVER DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE. I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN WINDOW TO GET OUT. IT'S A HAZARD AND A DANGER. WE NEED BETTER QUALITY EQUIPMENT FOR THE PRICE WE PAY. FORD NEEDS TO RECALL AND FIX. I SEE THAT 2011 CARS HAVE THESE SAME ISSUES. GO FIGURE.

When I got home from work, I turned my car off, pulled door handle on driver's side to get out, heard a loud clunk, and the door would not open. Although the lock looked open, the handle would not open the door. Drove right to the dealership. We determined that it would still open from the outside so the window would have to be rolled down to get out of the car. To me, that is a very serious issue in case something like an accident would happen and I wouldn't have been able to get out quickly. The dealer kept the car overnight to determine and fix the problem. Turned out that a plastic piece of the door handle had broken (when I heard the loud clunk). I still have the broken handle. I feel this should be reimbursed to me by Ford since that is just flimsy construction of this very important part.

ole cheap ass ford fusion inside door handle broke. to me this is a serious problem what if I was in a crash and car caught fire with door not opening hell I could burn to crispy crunch. I feel ford should put out a recall but they probably will not.

Stopped at a store after work and went to open the door and the door did not open all the way and was still gripped on. Went to try to open it again to get out and the handle was flimsy did not open had to open the window and open the door from the outside. Had the car for a little over a year and have had every issue with it. Body throttle and the steering issues which both were recalls. This is the first American car I have ever had and the most issues..

Fusion SEL 3.0L V6

  • Automatic transmission

Inside door latch broke inside the door panel. The car only has 25K+ miles.

To Ford's credit, they agreed to replace the door handle and not charge me anything because my original bumper-to-bumper warranty had just expired. I also have to give credit to the service advisor that handled my case at a local dealership.

Fusion SEL 3.2L

Cable broke inside the door. The long handle no longer works, it's just flimsy. You have to either roll down the window and use the outside handle or use the actual little lock part of the handle. Car door doesn't always lock properly, you have to pull on the handle to ensure it locked. Called dealership it's $65 for part plus labor......not under warranty.
