After driving 35 miles today, I was pulling up to a stoplight and the van started to shake, make noise, idle roughly and loudly. The engine light came on. The eco lights went out. The van would take off very slowly and only get up to a speed of 40 mph.

I took the car to O'Reilly Automotive, they hooked up a diagnostic indicator and said it was the Eco system and the van was running on 3 cylinders. He said that it might require a brand new engine.

I realize the mileage is high for its age, but most of this is highway miles and the maintenance schedule has been rigorously followed. A long engine life is the whole reason I spent $42,000 on a Honda. It seems this a common issue with the Eco system; I am surprised that there isn't a solution to this problem.

This is an intermittent problem. I give it the gas to pull out and it will begin to move then all power just quits. Pedal all the way down with no response for about 2 seconds or more then will get moving. Had in for service once and it wouldn't do it for them. Therefore nothing to remedy problem. Want me to keep records for them. Goes back to the shop again this Wednesday. We'll see.

Odyssey LX

About 5% of the time when I step on the gas at a light or in traffic nothing happens until the pedal is well down and then the vehicle lurches forward. The lurch is proportional to the amount the pedal is depressed so it seems the throttle position sensor is functioning but the throttle body is not responding. I've had it in twice for this and the dealer can't seem to get it to happen. They refuse to do anything until they can duplicate the problem. Last night it was so bad I rolled back into the car behind me with the throttle about half way down and the engine just idling as the vehicle rolled backward.
