A water leak has ruined TWO power liftgate control modules. The water leak probably comes from the roof or driver rear window welds. I replaced one module two months ago and the new one has also malfunctioned due to water intrusion. This causes the liftgate to be stuck open or closed and could potentially open when driving!
The passenger sliding door does not open when it automatically opens. It doesn't matter which button you press to open the passenger sliding door, when it opens and slides back, it does not fully open and does not stay open. As it gets close to the rear, it makes the warning beeping sound then begins to close, causing it to be inoperable and not properly function as it's suppose to.
Tailgate on 2019 Honda Odyssey model(s) without power lift gate function open to only a dangerously low height. Five undocumented head injuries have occured on a single vehicle within one year. Upon more research, tailgate height for these models have caused several head injuries some requiring medical attention. No warning labels or preventative equipment attached to the tailgate to warn of serious head injury. Honda dealership advised unable to adjust tailgate height.
This vehicle has experienced random braking incidents while being operated on highways and other roads. Additionally, within a span of five years, two doors have malfunctioned, and the electrical system required replacement. These defects have jeopardized the safety of my family. The vehicle was purchased new at the time of acquisition. Please help.
The vehicle's tailgate stopped working and a series of distracting alerts repeatedly popped up on the instrument panel. Upon inspection, the liftgate control module had a significant amount of corrosion on the pins and on the circuit board itself, despite the surrounding area seeming dry. Replacement of the control module did not completely fix the problem because the connector pins are corroded and dirty.

A faulty body seam seal allowed rain to enter the body of the vehicle and infiltrate the power tailgate control module. On my vehicle, this produced the error message "Tailgate Problem". The tailgate would fail to open, open part way and then close, or attempt to open at random. There have been reports of tailgates opening while driving as a result of this problem. My dealer replaced the tailgate module and re-sealed the body seam where water was entering. This seam is where the top and side panels of the vehicle join near the driver's side tailgate hinge. This is a manufacturing defect in the body seam seal that is allowing this to happen. The problem has been extensively documented by vehicle owners at [XXX] This unsafe driving condition should be subject to a recall to prevent anyone's tailgate from opening unexpectedly while operating the vehicle, creating a hazardous condition for occupants or for other motorists who might be affected by items falling out of the rear tailgate. Power tailgate began to malfunction first by opening slowly or not opening at all. Once open, would not close automatically. Would require a lot of manual force. Then, a "Power Tailgate Problem" error began to show on the dashboard. We took it to our local mechanic within about a week's time. They found the following 9 electrical codes: Power Tailgate Control Unit Internal Error Power Tailgate Right Touch / Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Left Touch / Pinch Sensor Circuit Malfunction Tailgate Closer Unit Half Latch Switch Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Sensor Pulse "A" Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Sensor Pulse "B" Circuit Malfunction Power Tailgate Drive Motor Circuit Malfunction Left Power Sliding Door Touch / Pinch Sensor Signal Error Left Power Sliding Door Touch / Pinch Sensor Signal Error They then found that the water was on/in the Power Liftgate Control Unit stemming from a leak somewhere in the body, probably around the D pillar. The Power Liftgate Control Unit will be replaced. The local mechanic recommended contacting Honda or a body shop to find the location where the water is entering the car.
Odyssey Minivan. The right rear sliding door became de-railed and stuck in the open position; the derailment also caused the third window on the right to break (rail is adjacent to the window).
The automatic sliding door won't close intermittently. When closing the sliding door, it will beep then slide back open, it creates a safety issue when the door will not close. The problem occurred intermittently and sometimes shut the engine off and then restarted the engine to fix it, but this has happened more than 30 times so it needs to be addressed.
The motor that raises and lowers the rear liftgate failed and has been repaired already at a Honda Dealership. The van is not even 5 years old yet and the motor failing caused the lift gate to droop after opening causing my wife and I to bang our heads on it if we weren't watching for it. The more important safety concern is if the liftgate lowers to a certain point, the motor causes it to bounce up and down slightly and then automatically close. My concern for the safety of my young children made me get it repaired promptly. The honda dealership did confirm that the motor failed and it caused strain on the right strut as well need it to be replaced as well. There were no warning lights on dash. This is a youtube link to someone else with the same van and year with the same problem. This is what my van was doing. Have been receiving an error about rear sliding door for 2 months. Now the inside of the door is rubbing against outside of van when opened & has made the inside door panel loose.
The trunk lift gate can suddenly fail and slam down quickly, being a safety hazard. When the trunk opens, it will move up and down a few times, then it will beep three times and slam shut. It consistently happens when parked on an incline.
The van was parked in the garage. I used the fob to open the sliding door on the drivers side. It stopped, got stuck. I pressed the button to open and close it in the vehicle and it started to move. And then I heard glass crunching. The door fell off the track and broke the window.
The door of my 2019 Honda Odyssey has malfunctioned since I purchased the vehicle. Upon opening the door, it immediately closes when on an incline or decline and will not stop even when a child is in the way. This is a huge safety concern as I often pick my children up from school or camp on a slight hill and when the teacher/counselor puts them in the car, the door closes on my child. I also have difficulty closing the door when on any type of hill. I have several videos of the issue. Honda said they are unable to fix the issue and that the sliding door was only designed to work on flat surfaces, which is ridiculous.
From time to time the automatic sliding doors (usually the driver side) would fail to close when the close button was pressed. The sliding door would move toward closing but it would bounce back to open position after traveling 2/3 of the way as if it detected an obstruction. At time it would take many tries for the door to actually close itself successfully. It happened at random occasions with no patterns.
- media/audio multipurpose screen freezes causing total loss of backup camera (while moving and stationary) - occasional delay of backup camera activation (while moving and stationary) - cabin and speed control and functions malfunction and fail (while moving and stationary) - sliding doors fail to open completely (while stationary) - steering wheel controls fail (while moving and stationary)
The non-power tailgate on my 2019 Honda Odyssey ex only opens to, a head bashing, about 5 ft 10 in. Me, my wife, and my 13-year daughter repeatedly hit our heads on the liftgate. The 2019-2021 trims with power liftgate open higher than 6ft 2 inches. Also, prior generations (pre-2019) of honday Odyssey liftagtes opened higher than 6 ft. With our current 2019 ex trim me, my wife, and our 13-year-old daughter all have to duck every time we load/unload the trunk. The dealer told me it's normal for the ex liftgate to open only 5ft 10in or so. I complained to Honda corporate after I, again, hit my head (with scars and photos to prove it). Honda called me and said that it is normal. I owned several cars before, Honda and other brands, and never ever had an issue hurting my head on the liftgate. I am 6ft 1in. This issue is an innjury hazard. Honda needs to admit to this as either an engineering or design oversight, or a bad decision, with the non-power ex trim liftgate. The power liftgate trims (more expensive) do open higher than 6 ft, so clearly it is not impossible to fix the issue. I also checked the 2021 Odyssey models today at the local Honda dealership - Honda did not address the issue: The ex non-power liftgate still opens at a similar 5'10'' while the more expensive ex-L power liftgate opens beyond 6'3''. please help me and many other ex trim owners with the same issue. A long conversation here: Https://www.odyclub.com/threads/problem-with-opening-height-of-tailgate-on-2019-Honda-Odyssey-ex.349995/ thank you. Most recent time I hit my head was on Feb/8
