CarComplaints.com Notes: There's an emerging trend of transmission problem with the 2010 Elantra at fairly early mileage.

So far owners report having the transmission replaced under warranty but that won't hold up for much longer. It may be a bit premature but for now we're putting the "CLUNKER" rating on the 2010 Elantra just to be safe.

Speaking of being safe, you might not be unless Hyundai can figure out why their airbags aren't deploying.

I went to the garage a few times to complain about so much sound in the car from the outside. You could hear the wind, the rain and sounds of other vehicles even when they were further way up highway passed you. It was like the door was ajar or the window was left open. They kept telling me they couldn't find anything.

As most women know if she takes a car to the garage some of the workers think that we don't know what we are talking about. So I took my husband with me the next time and the answer was different. They took my car for a drive and they said the rubber around the door was bad so they replaced. It didn't fix the problem but I did get a different response. I still keep checking to see if the window or door is open.

I got the same response when I told them about the paint coming of the door handles/mirrors in 2015 before I paid my car off and they said they couldn't do anything about it. Now the car is peeling of in several places and its pissing me off. I am 63yrs old have been driving sense I was 22yrs old. I have had many second hand cars before I purchased my first new car, which is my Elantra and I have not seen any peeling like this. Maybe rusted out, but not peeling.

I am so disappointe because the car is running so good right now and its a shame to see that the paint peeling is going to make her look so bad. I hoping that I can keep her for another couple of years with the help of your company to repaint her. Being nasty is not going to solve the problem but I greatly appreciate if you could.

The clear coat has been flaking off the rear trunk lid and door handles leaving the red paint a faded colour. Every time it rains or the vehicle is washed, more of the clear coat comes off.

The vehicle has been very well taken care of and supposedly coated at the dealer to prevent this problem.

Underneath my car there is exposed metal that is not treated with anything. Paint completely peeling off and rust is apparent upon inspection. I thought it was dried mud at first and tried hosing it all off, well that's when I realized it was bare metal starting to rust. Thanks Hyundai!

The clear coat and paint began flaking of the exterior door handles on the drivers side. Then a couple of months later started flaking off the passenger side door handles. Now all four handles look like crap. I brought this to the dealers attention and they suggested someplace I could have the car repainted at my expense. Are you friggin kidding me?

Bought a new car in Sept. 2010 and found that the paint is wearing off in 2011 April . It didn't take too long for it to start rusting after .

Huyndai Canada doesn't think it is a defect so they won't fix the problem .It is wear and use that caused my car to lose the paint and get rusty . Yeah sure ,it was !!!! BBB took Hyundai's side so I am screwed.

So far I had to spend 325$ and the dealer covered about 500 $ to do some touch up paint and mud flaps on the car . I don't think it will help.

I have payments on this car for 7 years and the extra insurance won't cover the problem . I am soo mad I could just kick someone's behind.
