This suspension problem is serious and could very well cause you to lose control of the car, even when having proper control of the steering.

The back the car keeps sway to the right side while driving on a slippy road. It's less obviously on a dry road.

they said there is nothing wrong with the car. this is bs, the car goes all over the place when you hit a bump with the right rear wheel. it will make the car go to the side bad. it will just about make you lose control of the car. if you are not ready for it you will. we had bought a new 2014 and it did the same thing. the rear axle is a big problem. they need to do something about this.

After struggling thru this icy winter (can NOT control back end of car) I finally went to a garage to get car aligned in case that was the problem. Garage said backend is out of alignment but unable to do the alignment until they do a fix. Unfortunately, they are having a hard time finding a kit or anything that will work. I understand the back axles do not allow for adjustments. All a Hyundai dealer offered is to replace the axle (expensive!), I understand most vehicles have axles that allow adjustments to do alignments. This must be the design flaw that a Hyundai dealing once admitted to me. Hyundai designed an axle that doesn't allow alignments. This should be a recall. So all of you with 2012 and 2013 who are experiencing the backend swaying, this could be the problem. If you did have an alignment and it wasn't any better, maybe the garage did an alignment but wasn't up and up about it?. If my garage can't find a fix I will have to get rid of the car. I like it, but it is a dangerous car to drive in northern Minnesota. Unfortunately, if I trade it in the dealer will only sell it to another unsuspecting person. Too bad

My garage told me the swaying of the backend is because backend of car is badly out of alignment! So far I can't do anything to fix it.

Elantra GSL 4 cyl

the care bounces all over the road over 25mp, rain or shine

My biggest concern with this car, is it's traction control. If you accelerate over 25mph and hit the smallest of bumps or drive over a puddle, or any inclement weather the car is damn near impossible to control. The back end just bounces SO much. The second issue I'm having with this car, is the transmission. It slams in and out of park and drive, and hesitates to shift into most of the other gears. The first time this happened to me, I was entering a busy highway and moving over, accelerating nicely, and then suddenly the car bogged down and shifted really hard, which took my speed down to nearly 35mp, I almost got hit by a semi because of this. A combination of the car's rough shifting, and lack of control caused me to spin out across 5 lanes of rush hour traffic and slam into the median of the bridge facing oncoming traffic. Again, i was driving and all of a sudden it bogged down and slammed into gear which sent me spinning across the wet bridge. The engine knocks very loudly too. all of the fluids have been checked over and over, everythings been maintained, the dealer has no explanation. "Americas Best Warranty" is a joke!

Elantra Limited 1.8L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 60,000 miles

The car sways all over the road at speeds above 45mph. I have to clutch the wheel and slow down sometimes to prevent the car from crashing or going off the road or into the other lane of traffic. It is horribly dangerous. It is remarkably worse when it snows or rains. I don't know what to do.

Hyundai needs to step up on this one! This problem is a major hazard and is dangerous. They can ignore small problems that don't pose a danger, but this is life threatening.
