I am the owner of a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. In the two years since I've owned my car, I've experienced 30+ instances in which my car stops working in the middle of operation. It's happened while I've been driving on the interstate, in the middle of intersections, and just about every other type of road possible. It usually occurs after I make a turn or come to a hard stop. The car will immediately, and completely randomly, come to a stop. The wheel will no longer work, nor will the engine. It comes with no warning. I will then have to turn my car on and off several times before I can get it in motion again. I've taken it to multiple mechanics and the only solution seems to be to get an oil change, though I am not quite due for one when this happens. After research on the internet, I've found this is a common occurrence amongst Jeep owners and the car is eating through an abnormal amount of oil. Jeep is well aware of this problem and has done nothing to fix it. The Jeep dealers I've taken my car to don't give any alternatives to fixing this problem. This is extremely dangerous and it's only a matter of time before someone is killed or severely injured as a result of this.

After each time of re-fueling the vehicle stalls while trying to drive, doesn't want to run; vehicle asks to be shifted into park and we try and pull over off on a busy 6 lane roadway. Screen says service transmission after stalling. Then the vehicle got stuck in 3rd gear. Weren't sure if we would make it home. Called Jeep customer service and they would not help in any way.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated suddenly and the vehicle shook and lost power on the highway while driving 60 mph. The contact had to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road. The failure occurred several times and the vehicle was taken to fields Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram asheville (255 smokey park highway, asheville, nc 28806, (828) 667-5213) three times. The dealer stated that the new variable valve actuator assembly failed and it was replaced during the second visit. During the first visit, the dealer stated that the vehicle was low on oil and topped it off. The contact had a code reader, which located codes P1042 and P0302 for cylinder misfire. The contact had to pay for a diagnostic test even though she located the codes with her own code reader. The vehicle was currently back at the dealer for a third time with the same failures and the same codes. The manufacturer was contacted and assigned a case manager. The manufacturer stated that they would call the contact back. The failure mileage was 78,000.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 70 mph, the gear shifter failed to move into neutral and the service transmission warning indicator illuminated. The contact coasted the vehicle to the side of the road and powered off the engine. Then vehicle was restarted and was able to drive; however, the failure recurred five miles down the road. The contact stated that the coolant increased to 200 degrees. The vehicle was taken to Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram 24 (1020 belmont St, brockton, MA 02301, (781) 961-1550) where it was diagnosed that the transmission, four spark plugs, one coil pack, an auto grill shotter, and jumper harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and referred the contact to NHTSA. The approximate failure mileage was 99,000.

Multiple times after fueling up my vehicle my car will start to shake and sputter and just stall. Has happened while on the highway with my family and almost caused a bad wreck. Most recently it happened again on local streets. Dealer keeps saying they can't figure it out but I videotaped the issue. Also when fueling up the vehicle it gives a problem and takes forever to fuel up and spits gas out and back on to me. I don't feel safe driving this car anymore with my family and fca doesn't want to acknowledge there is an issue and says just fill the tank up only 3/4.. something needs to be done !!

Brought vehicle in to the dealership for repairs on several ocassions with complaints of vehicle jumping into gear. Recently had to replace the battery because vehicle wouldn't stay running and could not put into gear. Vehicle is currently at the dealership because it was leaking oil. Have been told that the oil cooler needs to be replaced. Have also been told that the drive shaft is noisy and should be replaced and that the air temperature ambient sensor needs to be replaced. I gave the go ahead to replace the oil cooler and air temperature ambient sensor. Told them to hold off on replacing the drive shaft as the repair alone for the oil cooler and sensor was going to be approximately $1,300. I then received a call back and was told that they changed the oil cooler and upon trying to start the vehicle it didn't want to start. They told me multiple codes were coming up and that my instrument cluster needed to be replaced at an additional cost of over $1,000. Estimate for all repairs to be $2,500 plus. Was also told that the instrument cluster is a special order and once ordered they would have to hold my vehicle for two weeks until it came in and could be installed. It is costing me $35 a day for a rental vehicle through them. I estimate total cost for repairs and rental to be about $3,000. This cost does not include the replacing the drive shaft which they tell me is noisy.

Check engine light came on. Had computer scanned. Code P0520 engine oil sensor failure was detected. Called Jeep warranty department and they said the repair was not covered by powertrain warranty. This sensor is located under the plenum and intake manifold which bolts to the engine heads. This vehicle only has 30,000 miles on it.

After transmission recall repair, engine replaced due transmission recall repair 3rd time, vehicle idles rough when in neutral, check engine light came on and Jeep died. The vehicle started after a moment and the check engine light went off. Still having same issues after transmission repaired and a new engine due to the dealership resetting the computer instead of repairing the transmission. So new engine and repaired transmission, still having issues. Constant issue with the Jeep idling roughly, sometimes not starting or stalling in traffic on the highway and city streets.

Traveling on town road. The battery light came lit up on the control panel with a warning to put vehicle in park. Engine completely shut off. Gas pedal unresponsive. We pulled over to the side of the road. Tried to restart vehicle several times over the course of 15+ minutes. Vehicle finally restarted like normal. Turned vehicle around by crossing over double yellow lines, put in reverse. Vehicle completely shut off leaving us disabled across road, same warning and battery light on. Engine finally restarted 10 minutes later. Returned the vehicle safely home.

My Jeep Cherokee keeps repeating the same problems. This has been going on for more than a year. Sometimes I am terrified to drive because I do not know what is going to happen. Today and on other days, the Jeep has cut off on me a few times while in motion on a city street and sometimes when turning. The vehicle slams into gear when driving sometimes and feels like I am getting hit in the rear of the car. It is very dangerous because you don't know when it is going to happen. Today, the Jeep almost caused an accident when it just stopped on its own. Additionally, it often shifts gears erratically and very rough, even jerking at times. The dealership said they did a software update but this did not resolve the issue. I have taken to the dealer at least three times about this issue and I keep getting stalled saying either come back in 500 miles so the can do an oil consumption test or that they cannot duplicate the issue. Each time I take it in they say the did a software update or an oil change. The problem remains.

I was stopped at a light. When I depressed the accelerator, warning lights flashed on my dash, the engine stalled and a message to "shift to P then desired gear". car was hard to start afterwards, issue happened 3 more times on the way back home (less than 1 mile). Car has been brought to mechanic for diagnostic testing. I did research online and this appears to be a known issue with the transmission. Hopefully will still be covered under warranty.

Oil filter housing assembly is leaking. You can see oil leaking out of a port while running. Oil is puddling up and running down the motor. This can cause engine failure or a fire.. this vehicle was purchased certified pre owned; I am not sure if this is stil under warranty. Definitely is a safety hazard also the transmission on occasion shifts really hard when moving from one gear to the next.

I was in the turning lane to turn into a grocery store and when I accelerated to turn my Jeep accelerated then the check engine light came on the service transmission light, traction control light, service parking brake light, there were several lights that came on and my Jeep was still running but stopped accelerating as I was turning into the store on a busy 4 lane road and I was pushing the gas but the vehicle would not move I coasted into the start of the parking lot where it was now telling me to shift my car into park as I did then shifted back to drive and tried to finish pulling into the store parking lot and still nothing. So I put the vehicle into park shut it off sat for a min turned it back on placed it back in drive the check engine light was still on so I drove it to the nearest auto zone to get the code checked because it was a Sunday (today 10/7/18) and the dealer ship is closed. They were unable to find a code and once the Jeep was turned back on all lights were off. I drove it home and parked it and I am taking it to the deal ship tomorrow. 2 weeks ago Thursday Sept 27th my car stalled and shut off at a stop light while taking my kids to school the morning after filling my car with gas. It started back up immediately then shook like it may die again then nothing. No light indicators at all came on during that incident so I figured it could have been bad gas and thought nothing of it since I didn't have any other trouble til today. My children were with me both times and we got lucky this incident that happened today Sunday Oct 7th 2018 we did not get hit because I barely made it into the parking.

The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. While driving 70 mph, the front end of the vehicle shook and jerked, and the vehicle stalled. In addition, the service shifter warning indicator illuminated. The messages "shift to park" and "desired gear" were displayed. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (rockwall Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram, 970 E interstate 30, rockwall, tx 75087, (469) 698-2100) where it was diagnosed that the shifting pad and battery needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 35190705. The failure mileage was 61,730. * updated 11/19/18

On several occasions, this car has just stopped while in motion. Dashboard lights light up, get transmission warning. Have taken the car in on numerous occasions to be told that it needed an update on the computer. It is very scary to be driving a car and not know when or if it will shut off, and that an "update" would cause such an incident. I have had trouble with this car since the day we purchased it. I have reached out to Jeep and they just said to take it back to the shop so they could run tests on it, this was after it had been in the shop for 3 weeks. It seems like many others are having the same issue with the same model car. Someone is going to get killed if something isn't done with these issues. There should have been a recall in this faulty vehicle. I am posting that this new occurance happened today, but it has happened on several other occasions.
