The contact owns a 2014 Jeep Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at approximately 50-?"60 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. While driving 75 MPH and decelerating to 55 MPH, there was a thumping sound detected, and the vehicle started shuddering. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 200,000. The VIN was not available.
While driving the vehicle will shift into neutral while saying it-??s in drive. Then alert driver via display center on dashboard to -??shift to P then desired gear-??. The engine will completely shut off. Put into park, crank the engine, shift into drive then it will drive again.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that parts were not yet available. I honestly have no idea what system failed but I was doing 80 on the interstate and my car shifted into nuetral. All of the lights came on parking brake, brake and then my car would not drive any longer, luckily I was able to coast onto the shoulder but I literally could have been killed. I had just passed road construction that went from 4 lanes to 2 barracaded lanes. i waited 30 minutes and my car restarted like nothing. So I thought maybe it was a glitch until I was driving again and it did it again. I had to keep putting my car in park and then shifting it back to drive. It has not been inspected yet as i'm trying to get it to the dealership without it cutting off.
I was pulling out into a busy road and the clutch stuck and caused the transmission to drop into neutral. I couldn-??t move or get the car in gear for 30 seconds while traffic was coming my way. I had to turn the car on and put it back in drive and it slowly pulled away
there is currently a recall, U90, on my jeep. this recall causes high emissions. my vehicle will not pass department of motor vehicles with high emissions. there is a back order for the part that will fix the recall. the recall has also caused codes to come on, which can lead to other malfunctions. if malfunctions due to this recall while i am driving it can be harmful to myself and others.

The contact was informed that the electrical wiring harness needed to be replaced. The contact stated that he purchased the parts for the electrical wiring harness replacement. The contact stated that the dealer then informed him that the electrical wiring harness was not the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Car stopped without warning in middle of road. Would not start. NO Warning lights on dash. Answer: Low oil level, car just turned engine off. NO dash warning for low oil. Happened multiple times. Now: After filling with gas, stopped at light, warning messages "Put Car in park" then drive. When put in Drive, rough and huge thunk. Almost got hit, but was able to pulled over. Called AAA., waited 45, and he drove it up onto bed to bring to mechanic. No problem. They did an oil change. Drove for days then very rough idle and driving. Each time, I was able to pull over w/o being hit. Now sometimes running sluggish going down road and almost hit again. This car is not even 10 years old, but I've lost count how many close calls my family has had. If you go on any of the Jeep forums, many, many owners are complaining abouts these same issues. Why does the maker of Jeeps fix all these issues on the forums BEFORE they build or design new ones?! I have owned a Jeep Grand Cherokee(electrical), Jeep Commander(rust from bottom up), Jeep Compass, now the Jeep Cherokee (by far the WORST one). Was a Jeep fan, but I have never run into so many weird issues. Even my mechanic has given up and said bring to dealership. He has 5 different Jeeps all with electrical/unknown issues.
replaced the oil filter housing unit and filter cap because of oil leak, for the last couple of months, it-??s been feeling very rough switching gears, especially when turning from a stop, and now it won-??t start, at all. We tried jumping it and let it sit for a little bit and nothing changed. It-??s not ticking or trying to start or anything, just the dash lights up with all the lights and the brake pedal is locked, it won-??t move at all
There is 3 things going on with this Jeep. First thing the service shifter is on. Second the power steering will go out and come back on at different times. Lastly if you shut the car off it may not start again for awhile and you will get a message on the dash that says engine to warm to start. I contacted Jeep they said to take it in. We aren-??t in a position to just Let them keep running diagnostics on our car we have a code reader and it is not throwing any codes. Our Jeep started acting up after they did the one recall On it.
The engine lifters are tapping, The wiper switch goes out and the windshield wipers stays on and will not turn off and signal light-??s doesn-??t work neither the cruise controls, the transmission gears gets stuck in between gears and jerk off really fast
My 2014 Jeep Cherokee Impreza is stalling and lurching from a stop position as I press the excelerator to enter a street. This is especially problematic since I have to enter a Highway ( Oregon Coastal Highway 101) from a stop position turning right to go into town.This has been a problem for approximately 1.5 years and is a safety issue that could result in a fatal accident and is becoming more frequent.
Car has broken down multiple times. Most recent issue: 1car stalled while trying to make a left turn on highway, would not drive forward -dashboard sign said to put car in park -when trying to put it in drive it went into neutral and rolled back -car would not turn off, kept running when we tried to turn it on and off --??battery voltage low-??warning signal came on -engine warning signal came on -got it to drive again after a few minutes and parked the car -tried driving it home, same thing happened all over again when were at a light after about 5 minutes -went to parking lot, hood of car was burning hot
Check engine light came on, so I took it to my mechanic. Cylinder 1 is bad. The vehicle has 75000 miles and the engine needs to be replaced or at minimum cylinder one has to be repaired. Very expensive repair. I have done regular maintenance and still have an engine problem. I thought the engine would be good for at least 300000.

The vehicle was later diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, vapor canister, spark plugs, charcoal canister, and filter. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 112,366.
I get error messages that say stop to shift. My car is an automatic, brake comes on when I haven-??t touched it, it won-??t drive sometime Won-??t go forward or backwards, tire pressure errors, check engine light comes on when nothing is wrong now it won-??t always start. The battery is at 14.2 I want a new car this one is crap
When I fill up my car completely the car will sputter and turn off when idling at a stop. Then it may turn off and says to put in park. This has happened several times and in intersections which one incident almost caused an accident. Only happens when car gas tank is completely full. Please advise. Thank you
On March 7th 2023, I was driving my Jeep Cherokee on NY 96A in 55 mpa traffic, saw the check engine light turn on briefly, the engine seized at this speed, started chugging, and nearly had a traffic accident given the abrupt engine failure. In addition, while I was able to get to the side of the road, the car was stuck protruding off from the shoulder into the lane, the engine would not start to move the car, and it was a very unsafe situation given poor visibility at dusk. At 91,000 miles, it seems very strange to have experienced engine failure that ultimately resulted in a $6,785 repair bill at Maguire Jeep/Chrysler dealer in Ithaca, NY (VVA assembly needed to be replaced, broken valve spring in cylinder 4, roller spun and wedged in camshaft causing lobe damage, VVAA collapsed causing loose rocker and damaging head, valve and camshaft. Cylinder head needed to be rebuilt). This vehicle has had other serious problems in the past prior to this incident including a malfunctioning parking brake in 2020 that resulted in my 6 year old son and I stranded, unable to drive while we baked in the 90+ degree heat, a very costly broken 4wd module replacement 2021, and multiple breakdowns due to starter issues/needing starter to be rebuilt (2022 2x).
