CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2012 Grand Cherokee hasn't seen the same complaint volume as the 2011, at least not yet.
It's worth noting both model years are part of a class-action lawsuit that focuses on a defective TIPM and a long wait for replacement parts.
The 2012 also received national attention after it failed a Swedish Magazine's "moose test". The test measures a vehicle's ability to swerve out of the way of an obstacle you wouldn't want to hit while driving down the road ... like a moose.

Safety recall V62 the fuel pump relay can fail and the engine will stall while driving. The part to repair this problem has been unavailable since November 2019. This problem can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning. This is a problem which makes the vehicle unusable and there is no sense of urgency in getting a replacement part to fix it.
Nov 14,2019, recall V62 [19V-813] was announced. It is 11 months later, with still no remedy from the manufacturer, which is ridiculous as it could "fuel pump relay failure can result in a stall condition if the vehicle is running or a no-start condition if not running. - a vehicle stall while driving can cause a vehicle crash without prior warning."... when will the manufacturer complete the recall before people get hurt or worse...?
This vehicle has a current safety recall for the fuel pump relay. I'm sending this compliant became I strongly believe based on interactions with our local dealership that Fiat Chrysler is purposely delaying repairs to save money. We have been waiting for a year for parts and the current status is unknown when or if it will be repaired and this vehicle is severely affected in starting by the faulty relay and tipm model that it's installed one. This problem was covered under a previous recall that failed to fix it. After this many years, the fact Chrysler can't provide a hard date for the repairs leads me to believe they aren't gong to. The dealership blames covid supply chain issue on everything, but this was ongoing long before covid.
There is a current recall on my Jeep, I was notified of October of 2019. It is now September of 2020, and there is no resolution for this recall. My truck has had trouble starting several occasions. Many of those times I was left stranded. It eventually will start again, so far, but one day it will not and it is due to this recall. The tipm needs replacing and it is a very expensive job. (recall related incident)
This recall has been going on a long time with no remedy for it....my family safety why is it not made available yet.... since it can cause a major accident

Chrysler has failed to provide a safety recall remedy in a timely fashion and should be required to provide a remedy now! they recalled the fuel pump relay (19V-813 or V62) on November 19, 2019 and have yet to offer a remedy. They installed an external rely on my vehicle several years ago during the first recall and this external relay has already failed once leaving me stranded in a busy intersection. This defective part presents a serious safety hazard and Chrysler should be forced to provide an acceptable remedy in a timely fashion. Owners have now been waiting for over ten months from the original recall and have received no further communication from Chrysler.
My Jeep Grand Cherokee occasionally won't start. It has to stand for a few minutes and then starts. This happened once or twice a month. The dealer stated that there was a recall V62. (fuel pump relay). I have had the relay replaced 3 times, but not the original as seemingly it is not yet available. The car has never stalled or acted strangely once going. The agent has fitted another relay, but now says that they have to install a wcm, elv and keys. A diagnostic was done and showed up some errors after putting in the last relay. When will the correct relays be manufactured, as I do not want to go to great expense replacing other parts if it is still a relay issue?
2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee. In regards to fuel pump relay safety recall NHTSA recall #19V-813 & manufacturer recall #V62. The manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time completing the recall repair. Jeep has experienced shut-off while driving on freeway but nobody injured. Brought vehicle to dealer and they replaced fuel relay again but was informed that there is still no part or fix from manufactuer.
I was passing a slow moving truck on a 2 lane highway when my Jeep lost power for several seconds. I came very close to a head on collision. The Jeep has had a no start problem since I purchased it 5 years ago. It has been in dealership service departments multiple times for the issue with no resolution when still under warranty. All online research points to a defective tipm and there are related recalls. The current open safety recall is number V62 with fca for the fuel pump relay which is part of the tipm. The loss of power is one issue that can be caused by the faulty tipm, as well as the no start problem my Jeep has had the entire time I've owned it. I contacted fca recall assistance center and opened a case, informing them that I almost had a head on collision due to their defective product with an open recall. They told me there was nothing they could do but notify me when a fix was available. This recall was issue almost a year ago and involves life safety. I have no choice but to continue driving a vehicle that almost killed me 2 days ago because fca refuses to fix a defective part for several years.
Vehicle shuts off after starting, ticking from engine at random speeds, runs rough at random speeds during different times. I took it to my dealer because of this and they said that it sounds like the fuel pump relay is failing and can cause me to crash/stop in the middle of the road suddenly and that theres been a recall for this for almost a year but they cant help me or fix my car because theres no parts. I am now afraid to drive at all
V62 fuel pump relay recall was issued in November, 2019. Recall stated failure of V62 could cause the3 vehicle engine to stop working. It is now ten months later, and fca still does not have the remedy.
Jeep sent a recall notice without having a solution on hand. It has been 10 months since the recall. Fuel pump relay failure can cause major accidents. My vehicle has had check engine light spontaneously come on. I took it to Jeep dealership for a fix and they refuse to do anything about it. I have a small child in the SUV most of the time and I am concerned for the safety of the child. Jeep is not willing to work with me on a solution to either fix the vehicle or supply a temporary replacement until my vehicle is fixed. Please help!
My car continues to have intermittent issues with start. But I am most concerned about the potential for the Jeep to stall and crash while the in driving. I am risking the lives and the life of family and friends each time I drive this Jeep. This fule pump relay switch recall (V62) (NHTSA 19V-813) was issued back in November 2019. My communications with koons Chrysler in tysons corner Virginia and mopar have not produced positive result. They will not provide with a date for resolution. This is my only transportation, so I have no other options for transportation. I pray each time I drive this vehicle that me, and my passengers make it to and from our destinations safely. Please help
I have had severe electrical problems with this car. The car randomly shuts down while I am driving which puts me and my family in very dangerous situations. It looks like there is a recall intended to address this issue but it sounds like they do not have a solution yet. The issue is getting worse and worse and I am not in a position to buy a new car right now. What do I do? (recall related incident)
On November 21, 2019 mopar issued a fuel pump recall for my vehicle. I was having issues with my fuel pump relay and they replaced it with the defective model part because there has not been a remedy to the recall issued. I am experiencing issues with the fuel pump again. A defective fuel pump is a big safety concern. As a consumer I need an update as when an effective remedy will be available, for the safety and resale value of my vehicle. (recall related incident) ts also, it would be great to know what sort of time frame manufacturers are expected to release a remedy for a recalled part after issuing the notice.
They sent me a letter back in January 2020 that my fuel pump relay needed to be replaced and it is July 14th 2020 and it's still not available to be replaced
I received safety recall #19V-813 in February of this year. The recall warns of an engine stall without any warning. We live in a remote area and cannot risk driving the vehicle. We have not been able to use the car for over four months. I have called Chrysler multiple times but there is still no remedy. This delay is intolerable.
My 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee srt8 is having fuel pump problems, it is stalling while running and stuttering when pressing the gas, more specifically happens while merging on highway and accelerating. I took it to the dealership and they notified me of there being a recall on the pump and there isn't a fix for it. Also notified me that I can not register or sell the vehicle with this problem.
Failed to start unless you tried several times, it is a known problem and the fix did not last, as I have had it done twice and it is doing it again. The dealer told me they have not made a workable fix for it. It, however has always been parked when this happens they said it could stall while driving.
