CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2005 Nissan Altima has two fairly significant problems with the floor pan rusting through & motor mounts breaking.

Altima owners report that up to a basketball-size hole develops under the floor mats where the floor pan metal rusts through. Average repair cost is over $1,000.

The broken motor mounts are less of a problem - they break at ~75,000 miles average & it's $400 to fix. Still, motor mounts should not break!

"sensor" problem" - from this approximate, back to purchase of this vehicle, it has been a night-mare. Insurance, insurance, insurance, sensor, sensor, sensor, emc, "check engine light (2xs), are just the M/O for the 2005 Nissan Altima 2.5 S. please look into this matter before we have many more tradgedys!!! do this for the people. The evidence is there. My personal opinion: "safety" was last & inferior parts were 1st. I have documentation. Please call for a more detail list. Some info I do not have due to me not knowing of past & recent recalls on parts on the vehicle, therefore the dealer, replaced the part with-out my knowledge. It was not until I reviewed past receipts that recall repairs were done. I am a very unhappy customer & I am getting the run around. I hope an investigation can be started for the "safety" of others. The BBB auto line, etc, was another avenue I was told to take. Please guide me thru this process. Thank you.

Car stalling at in traffic, stop lights, and while driving. I was told to replace air filter and have fuel injector service. I did. Car began stalling again. I was told to have throttle body cleaned. I did. Engine light on. Hose put back on. Engine light on again. Was told there was code for idle valve but they didn't know how to address it. They reset computer. Car stalling again. Barely made it across intersection to get to dealership. Nissan replaced air filter, cleaned fuel injectors (again) and replaced crack shaft sensors. I just got car today. The car stalling while driving seems a bit dangerous.

I had a gas leak from my gas tank. I had the vehicle towed to the dealer. The service people stated that they found " slash in fuel tank.... appears to be claw mark from animal... found hair from animal stuck on cross member". no other damage to vehicle besides the gas tank. Vehicle is still at dealer. Have contacted regional dealer parts and service manager. I am waiting for him to call me back, because of the story from the dealer that the tank was clawed open, because common sence would say that this is not possible.. my concern is that if an animal can claw the tank open the gas tanks need to be recalled.
