CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2004-2006 Nissan Maxima has widespread transmission problems. It starts with the vehicle jerking when shifting, & progresses to full-blown transmission failure.

Maxima owners report spending $3,000 to replace the transmission, typically around when the odometer hits 100,000 miles.

There's a class action lawsuit filed in late 2011, & it is still in the "discovery" stage. Apparently, these things take time ... far too much time.

Took my 2005 Maxima for transmission jerking problem, dealer found the following common problems with their crappy car;

1. transmission 2. timing chain 3. engine mounts 4. door lock actuator 5. oil leaking from both valve covers

None of the above should go bad after just 64000 miles, not unless you contact NissanUSA. Even though they are well aware of these problems, they blamed it all on me for not having their extended warranty. In other word they admit their cars are not built to last.

They estimated $8,500 to fix the car. Fortunately I had an mechanical breakdown coverage with Geico, who picked up $7,200 of that cost.

Nissan may not care for loosing one customer, but they do not realize that it is people like us who do most of their advertising. Their cars suck and they absolutely don't care about their customer atisfaction. Never again I will buy a Nissan nor I will recommend their cars to any of my friends, co-workers, neighbors, family members, etc.
