I can honestly understand now about all those complaints that past consumers have talked about, written about, and sued about regarding modern Toyota cars... Electronics, Computers, and other new gadgets attached do create issues for the modern vehicle. Mine is 10 years old as of 2020 Aug and yes on very rare occasions my 4 runner ALSO JERKS FORWARD when pressing the brake at the stop sign... It happens when you're slowing down but not completely stopped yet and as the transmission downshifts automatically and you have your foot on the brake it gives a sudden forward lunge. A very scary and unexpected occurrence. Not too hard but enough that if you had a car that was too close in front of you, maybe 1 foot or 2, you would have slammed into it. I don't come that close to any car but if your one of those tailgaters be warned now.

I never checked it out. It only started a few months ago after 10 years of trouble free driving and 125k miles on the odometer and very minimum repair cost... I cannot even call it repair cost but normal maintenance. Does Toyota have bugs and gremlins in their computer software? I think so. It is something to be concerned about and they should have their Japanese geek squad look into it and debug this or it will continue to kill people.

Will I buy another 4 runner after this? OF COURSE. 1984, 1990 ( the worst one but still got 225k miles out of it ), 2000 ( my favorite until..... ) 2010 ( I love it too, more than all my past 4runners ).

2010 Toyota four runner automatic transmission seems to not down shift. The vehicle will hesitate when you press the accelerator pedal as if it is stuck in a high gear. When accelerating from a rolling stop the engine will rev up to 4000 rpm then down shift to accelerate. The vehicle shifts fine when placed into "s" mode and the driver manually shifts the gears. I fear that we will try to make a turn across a highway and the vehicle will lag and not move causing a wreck. Toyotas really aren't made like they used to be and i wish i could have my old one back.
